SHAWNEE, Okla. - Arkansas-Monticello's volleyball team closed out its final Oklahoma road match Friday night inside the Noble Complex in a battle with the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist. The road match came to a close with the Bison taking the match in a 3-0 sweep.
UAM was held to a .210 hitting percentage on 49 digs, 36 assists, 0 blocks, 1 ace, and 36 kills.

FIRST SET (25-16, OBU, OBU leads 1-0)
The opening set began with Oklahoma Baptist taking a commanding 6-0 lead over Arkansas-Monticello. The Bison's offense remained in control of the set, pulling ahead to extend their lead to 15-6. The Blossoms fought to catch up with the Bison, exchanging points back-and-forth, but UAM came up short as OBU took the first set, 25-16.
SECOND SET (25-16, OBU, OBU leads 2-0)
Arkansas-Monticello saw themselves down early in the second set, 12-5, however, five consecutive points from the Blossoms would see them bring the set within two, 12-10. The two teams battled back-and-forth for points, with the Bison keeping their edge over the Blossoms, 18-15. Oklahoma Baptist pulled away from UAM, scoring seven more points over the next eight serves to take the set, 25-16.
THIRD SET (25-23, OBU, OBU wins 3-0)
The third set looked to be similar to the second with the Blossoms starting behind in the scoreboard, 7-3, however Arkansas-Monticello quickly responded to cut the deficit to just one point, 11-10. The Bison took back control, giving themselves a six point advantage, 23-17. The Blossoms returned five unanswered points to hold off the Bison, but their last-minute rally was not enough as OBU took the final set, 25-23, and the match, 3-0.

The Blossoms return home to Monticello next Thursday, October 23 for a match with the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. inside Steelman Fieldhouse. Thursdays match is Weezy Night - all fans are encouraged to wear green and support the Blossoms.
