MONTICELLO, Ark. - Arkansas-Monticello's volleyball team welcomed the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University to Steelman Fieldhouse for a Thursday night match in this season's green-out game. In an attempt for their first win over SWOSU since 2016, the Blossoms came up short, as the Bulldogs took the match in a sweep 3-0 (17-25, 21-25, 17-25).
UAM was held to a .119 hitting percentage on 45 digs, 33 assists, 6 blocks, 5 aces, and 36 kills.
SET-BY-SET
FIRST SET (25-17 SWOSU, SWOSU leads 1-0)
The opening set began with the Blossoms taking the first two points of the night, prior to taking the lead 4-2. The Bulldogs soon came on the attack and took the set 15-9 over UAM. The Blossoms managed to cut the deficit to just four, 15-19; however, SWOSU held them to just two more points, taking the set, 25-17.
SECOND SET (25-21 SWOSU, SWOSU leads 2-0)
Arkansas-Monticello started the second set behind on the scoreboard, 12-5. However, the Blossoms quickly responded with one of the biggest rallies of the season, bringing the set to a manageable 17-12. The Bulldogs once more started to pull away, taking the set to 22-12, but Arkansas-Monticello responded with another impressive rally to make it 24-21. The luck ran out for the Blossoms as a kill by the Dawgs made it 25-21, with SWOSU taking the set.
THIRD SET (25-17 SWOSU, SWOSU wins 3-0)
Needing to take set three to force the first set four of the season, the Blossoms found themselves down on the scoreboard once again, 7-4. The Bulldogs' lead was cut to just two by the Blossoms three times before landing at 12-10. The defense of Arkansas-Monticello was unable to avoid the Bulldogs' bite as SWOSU held them to just seven points compared to their 14, taking the set 25-17 and the match 3-0.

The Blossoms return to the court tomorrow evening for a 4:00 p.m. match with the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State University inside Steelman Fieldhouse. Tomorrow evening's match is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Game with all fans encouraged to wear purple.
