MONTICELLO, Ark. - Arkansas-Monticello's volleyball team welcomed out of state foe East Central University to Steelman Fieldhouse for a Thursday night GAC match up. Looking for their first win over the Tigers in nearly five years, the Blossoms brought all the energy, but ECU came out of the meeting the victors winning the match 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-13).
UAM was held to a .008 hitting percentage on 50 digs, 28 assists, 5 blocks, 5 aces, and 29 kills.
SET-BY-SET
FIRST SET (25-22 ECU, ECU leads 1-0)
The opening set began evenly matched as Arkansas-Monticello and East Central vied over possession of leadership. The Blossoms and Tigers exchanged points back-and-forth, tying up the set seven times, to bring the set to 20-20. The Tigers reclaimed the lead by adding five more points over the next seven serves to win the first set, 25-22.
SECOND SET (25-20 ECU, ECU leads 2-0)
Arkansas-Monticello started the second set behind in the scoreboard, 6-2, however, the Blossoms quickly responded with a 3-0 rally to bring themselves within one. The Tigers' offense pulled ahead to give themselves a 17-10 advantage. The Blossoms worked hard to hold off the Tigers, cutting the deficit to three points, but ECU remained victorious in the end, 25-20.
THIRD SET (25-13 ECU, ECU wins 3-0)
The Blossoms saw themselves down early in the third and final set, 8-3. East Central would not relinquish control as the Tigers pulled away from the Monticello defense, 19-6. The Blossoms were unable to catch the Tigers as the deficit was too large, with ECU taking the final set, 25-13, and the match, 3-0.

- Evalyn Dang set new season and career highs with her nine kills and 13 digs in the match.

The Blossoms return to the court tomorrow evening for a 4:00 p.m. match with the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State University inside Steelman Fieldhouse. Tomorrow evening's match will be Ovarian Cancer Awareness night.
