MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team (1-2, 0-0 GAC) hosted Hendrix College (0-4, 0-0 SAAC) at Steelman Fieldhouse on Tuesday afternoon for the 4th annual Billie Ball Game. The Weevils came out of the contest with an 87-57 win over the Warriors.
Ashton Price led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (1-2), posting 23 points in the game. Price hit 7-13 total field goals on the day, with three three-pointers made, and 6-6 free throws. He also contributed five total rebounds, three assists, and a steal in his 28 minutes.
Josh Smith was the second Boll Weevil in the double-digits, scoring 22 points. Smith hit 7-8 field goals and 8-9 from the line while grabbing 11 rebounds and one assist, completing the double-double performance on the afternoon.
Isaac Jackson was the third Boll Weevil in double-digits for UAM, scoring 12 points. Jackson hit 6-10 field goals while grabbing seven rebounds, three assists, one steal, and a block.
Jakob Zenon saw 11 points posted on the afternoon as the final Boll Weevil in the double-digits. Zenon went 4-12 on field goals and 3-10 from beyond the arc, while grabbing three rebounds, two steals, and an assist.
Hendrix College (0-4) was led by
Kyle Roach and
Jaxon Herrera with 8 points apiece.
The opening half saw Arkansas-Monticello dominate the Warriors, going up 14-2 through the first five minutes of play. The Weevils held the lead for the remainder of the 20 minutes, seeing a half-high lead of 28 points with a tip-in from
Isaac Jackson. The teams headed to the locker room at the half with the Weevils on top, 50-22.
The second 20 minutes proved more evenly matched, as UAM outscored Hendrix 37-35. The Weevils would not relinquish control of the game, dominating with a game-high lead of 38 points with a layup from
Giancarlo Valdez. The game would conclude with an 87-57 victory for Arkansas-Monticello.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 15 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Weevils return to action on Thursday, November 20, as they host Arkansas Baptist College in Steelman Field House. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
