Blossoms Take Down Arkansas Baptist in Home Opener

MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team (3-0, 0-0 GAC) hosted Arkansas Baptist College (6-1, 0-0 CAC) on Tuesday evening for the 2025 home opener. The Blossoms came out with a 66-52 victory over the Lady Buffaloes.

Alindsey Long led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (3-0, 0-0 GAC), posting 19 points in the matchup. Long hit 6-20 total field goals on the day with five three-pointers made and 2-2 free throws. She also contributed four rebounds in her 38 minutes played, along with three assists and one steal. 

Alyssa Batton was the other Blossom in the double-digits, posting 13 points in the game. Batton went 4-14 on field goals,2-9 on threes, and 3-3 on free throws with six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Ja'Nae Southall saw 12 points posted on the evening as the final Blossom in the double-digits. Southall went 4-9 on field goals and 3-4 from the free throw line while grabbing one rebound, one assist, and a steal.
 
Arkansas Baptist (6-1, 0-0 CAC) was led by Jade Fry with 22 points.

The first quarter began with Arkansas-Monticello hitting the first shot of the game on a jumper by Alindsey Long, but Arkansas Baptist responded on the next possession to tie the game. The Blossoms trailed the Lady Buffaloes for the remainder of the quarter. The teams would head into the second quarter with the Lady Buffaloes on top, 13-9. The Blossoms prevailed in quarter two, outscoring Arkansas Baptist 19-17, after seeing the game tie four times. The teams would head to the locker room at the half with the Blossoms trailing, 30-28.

Arkansas-Monticello once again outscored Arkansas Baptist in the third quarter. The Blossoms posted 13 points to the Lady Buffaloes' 11. The teams entered the fourth with the game tied 41-41. The fourth quarter saw Arkansas Baptist and UAM exchange baskets back-and-forth until a free throw made by Nicole Weaver gave the Blossoms their final lead. The match-up eventually came to a close with UAM on top, 66-52. The Blossoms improve their record to 3-0 on the year. 

Arkansas-Monticello committed 10 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Blossoms return to action on Thursday, November 20, inside Steelman Field House as they take on Crowleys Ridge College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
