Zenon Ties School Three-Point Record as Weevils Dominate Saturday Contest Over Ecclesia College

MONTICELLO, Ark. - For the second straight season, the University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team welcomed the Royals of Ecclesia College to Steelman Field House, putting up its biggest margin of victory of the season. The Weevils exited Saturday's afternoon contest with a 106-61 win over the Royals.

Jakob Zenon led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (4-2, 0-0 GAC), posting a season-high 36 points in the game. Zenon hit 13-25 total field goals on the day and 10-22 shots from beyond the arc. His 10 threes ties a 38-year-old program record for most single-game three-point field goals made, set by Jimmy Robbins against Arkansas Baptist in the 1987-88 season. He also contributed six defensive and two offensive rebounds, two assists, and two steals on the game.

Ashton Price was the second Boll Weevil in the double-digits, scoring 16 points. Price hit 7-13 field goals, one three-pointer, and 1-1 from the line while grabbing five rebounds and four assists.

Josh Smith and Isaac Jackson saw 15 points posted on the afternoon, respectively, as the final Boll Weevils in the double-digits. Smith went 3-4 on field goals and 9-13 from the line, while grabbing 11 rebounds, three blocks, and a steal. Jackson went 7-14 on field goals and 1-2 from the line, while grabbing seven rebounds, five assists, and a steal.

Ecclesia College (0-11, 0-0 NCCAA) was led by Christian Ford with 20 points.

The first half of the match began with Ecclesia taking a momentary lead, but was quickly followed by a dominant display of offense from Arkansas-Monticello. The Weevils refused to let off the gas peddle for the majority of the opening 20 minutes, taking a 24-point lead. The teams would head to the locker room at the half with UAM on top, 50-26.

Arkansas-Monticello once again fired on all cylinders in the second 20 minutes, outscoring Ecclesia 56-35. The game would conclude with a monstrous 106-61 win for the Boll Weevils.

Arkansas-Monticello committed 11 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
