MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's Basketball team hosted out-of-state Great American Conference member Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday afternoon. The Blossoms came out of the match-up with a 71-62 loss.
Kennedee Shelton led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (9-11, 4-10 GAC), scoring 17 points in the match-up. Shelton hit 5-10 field goals on the afternoon, 1-1 three-pointers, and 6-6 free throws. She also contributed seven total rebounds and three steals in her 24 minutes.
Bailey Harris was the other Blossom in double-digits on the day, posting 10 points of her own. Harris went 4-13 on field goals and 2-6 from range with seven total rebounds alongside three assists.
Parker Stevenson led Oklahoma Baptist (14-6, 10-4 GAC) with 18 points.
Bailey Harris opened the first quarter of the game with a three-pointer to give the Blossoms an early lead over the Bison. After exchanging back-and-forth baskets, the first quarter concluded with both teams tied, 15-15. The Blossom carried their momentum to outscored the Bison in the second quarter, 17-14. The teams would head to the locker room at half-time with the Blossoms leading, 32-29.
The Blossom offense pushed forward again in the third quarter to outscore the Bison, 21-17. The tide turned in the fourth, seeing the Bison offense outperforming the Blossoms for majority of the period. Outscoring UAM, 25-9, Oklahoma Baptist came back to give a 71-62 loss to Arkansas-Monticello.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 17 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
