HUMBLE, Texas. - The Arkansas-Monticello men's golf team closed out the Houston Classic on Tuesday, Feb. 11, in 15th place at 42-over par (618) after completing only 36 holes. The final round of the tournament was canceled after two holes due to inclement weather in Humble, Texas.
The scores below represent the 36 holes played before the final round of the tournament was called for weather.
The Weevils were led at the Houston Classic by freshman Landry Rogers who rounded off the first day with a score of 6-over par (150) tying for 32nd place. Rogers completed the first round with a score of 77 (+5) and the second round 1-over par (73).
Tying for 64th with a two-round score of 155 (+11) were junior Daniel Taylor and senior Owen Page. Taylor shot a final score of 6-over par (78) in the first round and a score of 5-over par (77), with Page shooting 5-over par (77) in the opening round, before firing a second round of 78 (+6).
Freshman Connor Whitworth completed the first day tied for 78th with a score of 16-over par (160). Whitworth fired an opening round of 79 (+7) and a second round of 9-over par (81).
Finishing off the board for the Weevils tied for 82 with a final score of 18-over par (162) was sophomore Chase Kisver. Kisver fired a first round of 11-over par (83), before shooting a second round of 79 (+7).
The Boll Weevils combined for 12 birdies in the tournament.
The Weevils will return to the greens on Monday, Feb. 17, and Tuesday, Feb. 18, as they compete in the Rattler Invitational at the Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Texas. The Rattler Invitational is hosted by St. Marys University, and tee-off times are set for approximately 8:0
