MONTICELLO, Ark. – After weather forced a two-day delay of Great American Conference play, the University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team took the field to face off against Southern Nazarene University on Sunday evening. The Boll Weevils came out of the contest with an explosive 22-4 win over the Crimson Storm.

Scoring Recap:
Southern Nazarene was the first team on the board, scoring a run on an error in right field to take a 1-0 lead.
The Boll Weevil offense responded in the bottom half of the inning with nine runs of their own.
Camden Tanner and
Chaz Poppy brought home the first four runs on a two-run home run each.
Justin Santoyo scored
Will Owens for the fifth on a single to right, followed by a bases-loaded walk from Tanner to push the UAM lead to 6-1.
Kirk Woolf drove in the last three runs on a double down the right field line.
SNU grabbed three runs back over the next two innings, scoring two in the second and another in the third to put the Crimson Storm within five. This would be the last time the team scores in the game.
UAM would score 13 runs in the remainder of the game, scoring three in both the fourth and fifth innings, followed by seven in the sixth.
Cade Cancilla drove in Owens on an error, followed by a two-run bomb from Santoyo to increase the lead to 12-4.
Cripps drove in the three runs of the sixth on a three-run shot over the left field wall.

Aidan Garrett, followed by two singles and two bases-loaded walks pushed the Boll Weevils to a dominant 22-4 lead. The game would conclude in the seventh.
Pitching Performances

Connor Irvine started on the mound for Monticello, tossing 5.0 innings with four runs allowed (one earned) and five hits. Irvine struck out nine in his outing, earning his third win of the season.

John White saw 1.0 inning for the Weevils, striking out one of four batters faced batter and allowing one hit.

Ruben Macias closed out the final inning, striking out two of three batters faced.

The win pushes the Boll Weevils to a 6-1 overall record and a 1-0 start to GAC play.

Arkansas-Monticello will return to the field on Monday, February 18, for a doubleheader to close out the conference opener against the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene. The first game of the doubleheader is set for a noon first pitch from Weevils Field at Union Bank Park.
