LAST MEETING
Delta State University - UAM took down the Statesman in March of 2024, by a final score of 8-5 in Cleveland, Mississippi. The Weevils were the first on the board in the top of the 1st inning, seeing Brodie Romero score Kirk Woolf from second on an RBI single. The Statesmen responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first, taking the lead over Monticello 2-1. Monticello would quickly tie the lead with an RBI single from Noah Estrem to bring Cade Cancilla across the plate. Another RBI single from Deshaun Cordova brought Will Owens in to score, giving Monticello the lead once again. The Weevils went on to stretch that lead even more with a three-run home run from Kirk Woolf, bringing the Weevil lead to 6-2. The top of the third started with a double from Chase Cripps. A single from Cade Cancilla drove in Cripps to increase the lead to 7-2. The Statesmen responded in the bottom of the third with two more runs, cutting the Weevil lead down to 7-4. The next few innings remained scoreless until the bottom of the 7th when Delta State drove in another run, bringing the score to 7-5. UAM scored once more, as a double from Cade Cancilla brought Chaz Poppy across the plate. Nelson Mercado came in to pitch for the Weevils in the bottom of the 8th and went on to retire the last six batters of the game for Delta State, securing the Weevils win 8-5.

Oklahoma Baptist University - The Weevils split the last two games against the Bison, 11-6 and 8-7. Game one was split between two days due to lighting, the Weevils scored first as Chase Cripps singled through the left side to bring Roc Hawthorne across the plate. Monticello went on to increase their lead over the Bison in the second when Hawthorne hit a solo shot over the center field wall to make the game 2-0. Oklahoma Baptist responded in the top of the third with a two-run home run to tie the game, followed by a solo home run to left field to take the lead, 3-2. Monticello would be unable to respond throughout the third and fourth innings, as the Bison continued to stretch their lead to 10-2. Heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Weevils were able to rally together some runs when Parker Dorrance plated Chase Cripps with a SAC fly to right field. UAM kept chipping away at the Bison lead with an RBI single from Logan Jones to score Kirk Woolf, making the game 10-4.  OBU added to their lead once more in the top of the 6th with another solo home run. The game was sent into a lightning delay at the bottom of the sixth, and it eventually paused. The game was resumed on Monday morning in Arkadelphia at Henderson State University. UAM started the bottom of the sixth inning with runners in scoring position but was unable to make a breakthrough. The score was 11-4 heading into the seventh. Ruben Macias shut down Oklahoma Baptist's first three hitters of the seventh inning, giving the Weevils another chance to respond. A single to the shortstop from Chaz Poppy would plate two more runs for the Weevils cutting the Bison's lead down to 11-6. In game two of the doubleheader Monticello was the first team on the board, scoring in the bottom of the second on an RBI single up the middle from Chase Cripps. With a bases-loaded situation, DeShaun Cordova drew a walk to increase the Weevils lead. A ball in play from Roc Hawthorne plated Cade Cancilla to push the Weevil lead to 3-0. Oklahoma Baptist responded in the top of the fourth, tying the game with a three-run home run to left center field. OBU took a 5-3 lead in the top of the fifth with another home run but saw UAM's offense clap back in the bottom half of the inning. Two back-to-back RBI singles from Chaz Poppy and Chase Cripps brought this exciting game into another tie at 5-5. With another home run in the top of the sixth, the Bison were able to take the lead 6-5. Camden Tanner blasted a two-run bomb to right-center field in the seventh, giving the Weevils a 7-6 lead. A Bison SAC fly in the ninth tied the game at 7-7 and sent the game into extra innings. The final run came in the eleventh when Cade Cancilla drove in Hawthorne on an infield error from OBU.
