MONTICELLO, Ark. – Arkansas-Monticello senior catcher Chaz Poppy was named Great American Conference (GAC) Player of the Week on Tuesday by the league office.
Poppy, an Arkansas native, led the Boll Weevils to a three-game sweep over Southern Nazarene in the first GAC series of the 2025 season. He batted a piping hot .750 (9-for-12) in three games with one home run, one double, seven RBI, and four runs against the Crimson Storm.
He also walked once, which contributed to his .769 on-base percentage for the weekend, and he extended his current hitting streak to six games and his current on-base streak to 15 games.
He leads the GAC with a .486 cumulative batting average, and he is also second in the league in slugging (.714), fourth in on-base percentage (.538), and tied for fifth in hits with 17.
