DALLAS, Texas – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced Thursday that Arkansas-Moticello senior catcher
Chaz Poppy has earned the NCBWA's Central Region Player of the Week.
This award comes on the heels of his Great American Conference (GAC) Player of the Week recognition for his efforts in the three-game sweep over Southern Nazarene this past weekend. Poppy went 9-for-12 (.750) throughout the three games with one home run, one double, seven RBI, and four runs against the Crimson Storm. He was also walked once over the 21 innings contributing to his .769 on-base percentage, and extended his hitting streak to six games and on-base streak to 15.
The Sherwood, Arkansas native not only leads the GAC with a .486 batting average, but he is also second in the league in slugging (.714), fourth in on-base percentage (.538), and tied for fifth in hits with 17.
