MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team are heading to Weatherford, Oklahoma this weekend to take on the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University in a three game GAC series. All three games have been moved from their original dates due to weather in Weatherford on Friday, with the Boll Weevils now scheduled for a doubleheader at SWOSU Baseball Field on Saturday starting at noon, with game three to be played as a Sunday matinee at noon.

LAST MEETING
Southwestern Oklahoma State University - The Boll Weevils swept the Bulldogs, 8-7, 3-2 (8 innings), and 6-0 (5 innings) during the last meeting in April of 2024. The Bulldogs scored first in game one, seeing the lead-off hitter take the second pitch of the game over the center field wall. UAM responded with four runs over the next three innings. DeShaun Cordova drove in the first on a single to left, followed by a two-run bomb from Camden Tanner, and a solo shot from Aidan Garrett to take a 4-1 lead as the fourth came to a close. SWOSU found a second run in the top of the sixth but were matched in the bottom of the inning as Tanner drove in a run on a SAC fly. Tanner launched his second home run of the ball game in the eighth, pushing Monticello to a 7-2 lead. Southwestern Oklahoma put up five runs in the top of the ninth to tie the game at 7-7. Parker Dorrance walked it off in the bottom of the inning on a double to right center. In game two Camden Tanner kicked off the scoring with an RBI single in the third to give UAM the lead. Parker Dorrance launched a solo home run in the fourth to push the Weevil lead to 2-0. A 2-RBI single in the sixth for SWOSU tied the game up. Chaz Poppy walked off the game in extra innings on a shot off the right-center wall to give UAM a 3-2 win. During the Sunday matinee, the Boll Weevils struck first in the third inning, scoring five runs against the Bulldogs thanks to a 2 RBI home run to right center field, followed by an RBI single through the four-hole, as well as a bases-loaded hit by pitch and a walk. UAM found a sixth run in the fourth on a Camden Tanner home run over the wall in right field. After the Bulldogs were unable to respond in the top of the fifth, the game was called in the bottom of the inning due to lightning and weather coming in for the remainder of the afternoon.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Southwestern Oklahoma State University - Arkansas-Monticello leads in the all-time record 27-14, which dates back to the first meeting in April of 2012 a 5-9 loss for UAM. The Weevils are currently in the midst of the longest win streak against the Bulldogs, 5-0, which started in April of 2023. Through 41 games played the Boll Weevils have recorded a 10-5 home, 13-8 away, and 23-13 conference record. The largest margin of victory for the boys in green and white sits at, 19-7, which was achieved on May 4, 2013. Since the first game recorded the Boll Weevils have plated 259 guys averaging 6.32 runs per game.

LAST TIMEOUT FOR THE WEEVILS
The Weevils fell Tuesday, March 11 in a high-scoring midweek game to the Statesmen of Delta State University, 20-11.
