MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team returned home to Union Bank Park on Friday evening to host the Wonder Boys of Arkansas Tech University in a conference doubleheader. The Boll Weevils took both games, winning the first 12-5 and the second 12-2.
Game 1, 9 Innings
Arkansas Tech: 5, Arkansas-Monticello: 12

Arkansas Tech was on the board first in game one, taking advantage of a Boll Weevil error to put three runs across the plate in the top of the first.
UAM responded in the bottom half of the inning with two runs of their own.
Justin Santoyo drove in
Camden Tanner for the first, followed by a walk with the bases loaded to bring
Chaz Poppy across the plate.
Kirk Woolf drove in a third run in the second on a double to left center.
The Wonder Boys put up another run in the fourth on an RBI single through the four-hole, but were matched with two Boll Weevil runs in the bottom of the inning.
Kirk Woolf launched a ball over the left field wall to score two, putting Monticello on top. Santoyo was responsible for three runs across the fifth and sixth innings, driving in two in the fifth on a home run to right center, followed by a bases-loaded walk in the sixth.
Cade Cancilla drove in the final four runs for UAM on a grand slam to left field.
ATU brought home a consolation run in the ninth on a sac fly.

Connor Irvine started game one for UAM, tossing 7.0 innings and allowing four runs on six hits. He also struck out five batters.

Nathan McManus closed out the final 2.0 innings, seeing one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts.

Scoring Recap:
ATU was once again on the board first in the opening inning of the ball game, scoring two runs in their first appearances at the plate. The runs would be the Wonder Boys' only runs of game two.
The Boll Weevils scored four runs in the second, five in the third, two in the fourth, and a final run in the sixth.
Aidan Garrett kicked off the UAM scoring with an RBI down the right-field line.
Logan Jones brought home Garrett on a moon shot over the center field wall.
Roc Hawthorne scored the final run of the second after stealing third base and scoring on the throw to second.
Santoyo launched his second home run of the afternoon in the third, hitting a solo shot to opposite field. Hawthorne and Poppy each found an RBI in the inning, with Garrett scoring on a bases-loaded walk between them.
Chase Cripps drove in the ninth run of the game on an RBI double to center.
Camden Tanner sent his third home run of the season over the wall in the fourth, scoring two runs on the drive over the right-center wall.
Kirk Woolf brought home the final run of the ball game in the sixth, scoring
Logan Jones on a double to left center. ATU was unable to respond, resulting in a Boll Weevil win and a 2-0 sweep on the day for UAM.

Maxim Mrakovcic started on the bump in game two, totaling 5.0 innings and allowing two earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts.

Trey Miller closed out the final 2.0 innings with no zero runs scored on zero hits. He struck out four batters.
