Woolf Walks it Off as Weevils Complete Series Sweep Over Arkansas Tech

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevils completed the weekend sweep over Arkansas Tech University on Saturday. Kirk Woolf gave UAM the 14-12 win in the ninth on a two-run home run over the decks in left field.

Scoring Recap:
For the third time on the weekend, Arkansas Tech put runs on the board first. The Wonder Boys posted three runs in the top of the first inning, scoring on a two-run home run and an RBI double.

The Boll Weevils responded with five runs in the bottom half of the inning. Chaz Poppy was responsible for four of them, driving an opposite-field grand slam over the green monster in right. Aidan Garrett plated the fifth run on a suicide squeeze turned single to make it a 5-3 game.

ATU saw a fourth run on a wild pitch in the second.

Arkansas-Monticello scored seven runs between the third and fifth innings, seeing two in the third, four in the fourth, and one in the fifth. Camden Tanner drove in both runs in the third on an RBI double to left center. Aidan Garrett brought home two runs in the fourth on a home run to right center. Roc Hawthorne and Camden Tanner each drove in a run on singles up the middle. Chaz Poppy plated the twelfth run on a solo home run in the fifth to left center.

Arkansas Tech saw six runs scored in the sixth, taking advantage of walks alongside a sac fly and two RBI singles. The Wonder Boys plated an eleventh run in the seventh on a sac fly to make it a 12-11 game.

ATU tied the game 12-12 on a solo home run in the top of ninth.

Kirk Woolf gave UAM the win on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the inning, scoring Roc Hawthorne on the drive.
 

Pitching Performances
- Bryce Louis started on the mound for UAM, tossing 4.0 innings with four earned runs on four hits. He struck out two batters.
- Aiden McGee threw 1.1 innings with three runs allowed on one hit.
- John White saw five batters and allowed three runs on one hit.
- Kyle Roop faced four batters to close out the inning, allowing one run on one hit with a strikeout.
- Nelson Mercado closed out the final 3.0 innings and got the win. He allowed one run on two hits with three strikeouts.

- Chaz Poppy - 2-for-5 with 2 home runs, 5 RBI, and 2 runs scored
- Kirk Woolf - 2-for-4 with a home run, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, and 2 walks
