MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team is heading to Enid, Oklahoma for the 2025 GAC Championship tournament. The third-seeded Boll Weevils will commence postseason play at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1 when they take on the eighth-seed Henderson State Reddies inside the David Allen Ballpark.

REGULAR SEASON MEETING WITH THE REDDIES
Conference Series Game One - The Reddie offense was the sole performer throughout the first six innings of the ball game, building a 9-0 lead over the Boll Weevils. UAM found a run in both the seventh and eighth innings, with
Cade Cancilla driving in the first on a double to right center and
Chase Cripps scoring the second on a double to right center of his own. HSU scored three runs in the bottom half of the eighth to complete the 10-run run-rule, 12-2.
Conference Series Game Two - Arkansas-Monticello was the first to put runs on the board in game two in the top of the second as a
Will Owens ground out advanced
Chaz Poppy home. The Weevils plated another run in the top of the third as
Camden Tanner grounded out to score
Roc Hawthorne on an unearned run. The Reddies would bust the game wide open in the bottom of the third adding all eight of their runs. Seven runs crossed home via six singles, and a bases-loaded walk added the eighth run, giving Henderson an 8-2 lead in the third. UAM would start the try for a comeback in the sixth off a
Justin Santoyo ground out that brought in
Chase Cripps. In the seventh, an unearned run from
Cade Cancilla was put on the board off a
Kirk Woolf sacrifice fly to center field. The Boll Weevils could only muster three more runs between the eighth and ninth innings. Santoyo doubled down the right-field line to bring in Cripps in the eighth, and
Chaz Poppy homered to right field in the ninth to score Tanner and himself. The Weevils would fall 7-8 to the Reddies.
Conference Series Game Three - Henderson State put themselves on the board first in game three at the bottom of the second with a home run to the right center. The Weevils answered right back in the third off an HSU wild pitch that brought home
Cade Cancilla.
Chase Cripps would advance home in the fourth off a single bunt from
Aidan Garrett. In the sixth Cripps would score once more as
Eli Marvin doubled down the right field line, and Marvin came in as Cancilla singled through the right side. The final run of the game came in the bottom of the seventh as the Reddies hit a homer to right field, but it wouldn't be enough as the Weevils took the second came 4-2.
Nelson Mercado recorded the win on the rubber in game three of the series.
Non-Conference Midweek - Henderson State jumped ahead early, scoring four total runs in the first after taking the first pitch of the ball game over the scoreboard. The Reddies would go on to score one in the second, three in the third, and one in the fourth to increase their lead to 9-0.
Justin Santoyo put UAM on the board in the bottom of the fourth, driving in two runs on a single to right.
Brodie Romero wore a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in a third run. Arkansas-Monticello saw a fourth run in the fifth as
Chase Cripps drove in
Camden Tanner on a triple to right center field. The sixth inning saw one run for HSU and three runs for UAM. A double down the left field line gave the Reddies a 10-4 lead, but a three-run home run to center field from
Roc Hawthorne brought the Weevils back within three. Henderson State scored a final run in the seventh on a single. UAM scored two runs in the ninth as a last-effort push from the offense. Back-to-back doubles from
Justin Santoyo and
Eli Marvin scored the first, followed by an RBI from
Cade Cancilla. The effort fell short as UAM dropped the game, 11-9.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE WEEVILS
The Boll Weevils went 2-1 this past weekend taking on the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas University. The Weevils dropped game one, 3-2, before taking games two and three, 2-1 and 9-5.
