MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team is returning home this week to host the 19th-ranked Lady Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State and the Lady Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Blossoms welcome the Lady Rangers on Thursday, January 15, at 5:30 p.m., and the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday, January 17, at 1:00 p.m., with both games being held in the newly renovated Steelman Field House.
LAST MEETING
#19 Northwestern Oklahoma State - The Blossoms came out of the last meeting victorious, taking down the Lady Rangers, 57-52 in Steelman. The first half of the game was a battle throughout its entirety. A three-pointer at the buzzer by
Kelsey Blakemore put the Blossoms on top at the end of the first quarter, 17-14. The Lady Rangers fought back in the second quarter to outscore the Blossoms, 18-14. The teams would head to the locker room at the half with the Blossoms trailing, 32-31. Northwestern Oklahoma came out from the half to win the third quarter, outscoring the Blossoms 13-7. Arkansas-Monticello flipped the script in the final 10 minutes, scoring 19 points while holding the Lady Rangers to single-digits. In the final seconds of the game, a three-pointer by
Alindsey Long put the Blossoms ahead to secure the win over Northwestern Oklahoma, 57-52.
Kelsey Blakemore led the way for Arkansas-Monticello with 14 points on the afternoon. Blakemore was 5-8 on total field goals, going 1-1 from distance. She was also 3-3 from the free throw line while contributing five rebounds, five assists, and two steals in her 34 minutes on the court.
Bailey Harris followed close behind, posting 12 points of her own on the afternoon. Harris hit 5-16 field goals, 1-9 three-pointers, and 1-2 free throws while grabbing one rebound, four assists, and three steals.
Camille Pritchard was the other Blossom in double-digits, scoring 11 points. Pritchard went 4-6 on field goals, 1-3 on threes, and 2-2 on free throws with three rebounds. Arkansas-Monticello committed 12 turnovers in the entirety of the match..
Southwestern Oklahoma State - The ladies in green and white fell to the Lady Bulldogs in the last meeting, 46-57. Southwestern Oklahoma won the opening quarter of the game, outscoring the Blossoms 11-4. The Blossoms fought back in the second quarter, but came up just short against the Lady Bulldogs, 14-13. The teams would head to the locker room at the half with SWOSU on top, 25-17. The Blossoms continued their fight, coming out of the locker room to match the Lady Bulldogs, scoring 13 points apiece. Southwestern Oklahoma's offense pushed forth, outscoring UAM 19-16 in the fourth quarter, to conclude the game with a 57-46 loss for the Blossoms.
Bailey Harris led the way for Arkansas-Monticello with 17 points on the evening. Harris was 5-12 on total field goals, going 2-3 from distance. She was also 5-6 from the free throw line while contributing 11 rebounds for a double-double, one assist, two blocks, and three steals in her 36 minutes on the court. Arkansas-Monticello committed 26 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
ALL-TIME SERIES
#19 Northwestern Oklahoma State - Thursday's meeting will be the 27th time these two teams have faced each other on the court. The Lady Rangers hold a two-game lead over the Blossoms, 12-14. This fierce battle between these two squads dates back to game one in March of 1978, when the Blossoms won 69-68. Since then, the Blossoms have set an 8-4 home record, a 2-10 record on the road, and are 10-14 overall in GAC action. The largest margin of victory for UAM came in December of 2015, an 81-62 defeat of NWOSU. With 26 games in the stats, the Blossoms have put up 1,653 points over the Lady Rangers, averaging 63.58 points per game.
Southwestern Oklahoma State - Tip-off will commence the 34th all-time meeting between SWOSU and UAM, with the Lady Bulldogs holding a 28-5 record over the Blossoms. This all-time record dates back to the 64-73 loss in 1987, the first time these two teams ever met. The largest margin of victory was seen on January 17, 2015, inside Steelman Field House, a 68-56 win for UAM. The Blossoms are currently 3-10 at home, 1-12 on the road, and are 4-22 in GAC play. Through 33 games, the Blossoms have scored 2,121 points, averaging 64.27 points per game.

The Blossoms fell 0-2 this past week in Oklahoma. Falling to the Tigers of East Central on January 8, 59-66. Despite the loss, senior Alindsey Long posted a career high of 30 points in the match, leading both sides of the court. The Blossoms dropped their Saturday, January 10 contest to the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State, 33-62.
UAM STUDENT CONTEST: STUDENTS! With conference play in action for basketball, you have the opportunity to enter to win the Union Bank $10,000 Full Court Putt Challenge on February 28! At each home game, students can enter once at the women's game and once at the men's game, until halftime of each. (That's two entries per game day) The more games you attend, the more entries you have to be drawn from for your chance at the $10,000 contest! One lucky student will be drawn at the final home game of the season to putt a golf ball 94 feet down the full Steelman Field House basketball court for $10,000, with a regulation putter and ball. BUT, at each home game prior, a student will be chosen to shoot a free throw shot for $100. The current offer stands at $400 dollars if the shot is made. If that shot is missed, then the money rolls over to the next week. There is a possibility of a $900 free throw shot, on top of the $10,000 full court putt, if no one makes it
