BETHANY, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevil commenced the second half of conference play Friday night taking on the 18th ranked Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene University. The Weevils came out of the contest with a 64-50 loss.
Isaac Jackson led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (8-10, 4-8 GAC), posting 28 points in the game. Jackson hit 12-14 total field goals on the day and 4-7 free throws. He also contributed three offensive rebounds in his 39 minutes, along with a steal.
Southern Nazarene (14-4, 8-4 GAC) was led by
Joe Mpoyo with 22 points.
Southern Nazarene won the first half of the game, as the Crimson Storm proved more efficient in the opening 20 minutes, outscoring Arkansas-Monticello 40-20. SNU shot for 16-35 (45.71%), compared to UAM shooting 7-23 (30.43%). The teams would head to the locker room with the Weevils trailing, 40-20.
Arkansas-Monticello found success in the second 20-minute period, outscoring Southern Nazarene 30 points to 24. The Weevils improved, shooting 12-23 on shots (52.17%), compared to the Crimson Storm's 8-28 (28.57%). Unfortunately, the effort proved not enough, as the final buzzer rang, concluding the game with a 64-50 loss for UAM.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 14 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
