MONTICELLO, Ark. – Arkansas-Monticello's Blossom basketball team is set to head for Oklahoma for two GAC match-ups. The Blossoms will take on the Tigers of East Central University on Thursday, January 8, at 5:30 p.m. inside the Kerr Activities Center. The ladies in green and white will then trek to Southeastern Oklahoma State University for a 1:00 p.m. meeting with the Savage Storm inside the Bloomer Sullivan Arena on Saturday, January 10.
LAST MEETING
East Central - The Blossoms fell to the Tigers the last time out, 39-68. The Tiger offense primarily led the opening quarter, striking first to take a quick 5-0 lead. The Blossoms struggled to keep up with the Tiger offense, getting outscored 24-5 in the first quarter. ECU extended its lead, outscoring UAM 11-9 in the second quarter. The teams were sent to the locker rooms at the half with East Central leading 35-14. The Blossoms bounced back in the third quarter, their highest-scoring quarter, with 14 points compared to East Central's 17. The Tiger offense pushed forth again, outscoring UAM 16-11 in the fourth quarter, to conclude the game with a 68-39 loss for the Blossoms.
Kennedee Shelton,
Camille Pritchard, and
Alindsey Long were the leading scorers for UAM, posting seven points each. Shelton was 2-5 on field goals, hitting 1-2 threes and 2-2 free throws while grabbing two rebounds. Pritchard hit three and four free throws on the day. She grabbed three rebounds and one steal in the match-up. Long was 3-6 with a three in her 28 minutes. She had three rebounds and an assist against the Tigers. Arkansas-Monticello committed 18 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
Southeastern Oklahoma State - Arkansas-Monticello dropped the last meeting with the Savage Storm, 55-75 in Durant. The opening quarter of the game was completely dominated by Southeastern, outscoring the Blossoms 25-10 in the first 10-minute period. UAM's offense found some momentum in the second, posting 14 points to the Savage Storm's 12. The teams were sent to the locker rooms at the half with Southeastern leading 37-24. Southeastern continued its offensive push in the second half, once again outscoring UAM. The Savage Storm won both of the final periods, eventually leading to a 75-55 loss for UAM.
Bailey Harris led the way for Arkansas-Monticello as the lone Blossom in double-digits, scoring 13 points on the evening. Harris was 4-13 on total field goals, with 3-5 of them from distance. She was also 2-2 from the free throw line while contributing six total rebounds, five defensive and one offensive, two blocks, and an assist in her 27 minutes on the court. Arkansas-Monticello committed 21 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

East Central - The Tigers hold a strong lead in the overall record, 10-21, dating back to the first meeting in November of 1986, a 86-68 win for the Blossoms. UAM has a record of 4-9 at home, 2-11 on the road, and 6-20 in conference play. The largest margin of victory for the ladies in green and white came via a 92-57 win in December 1993. Through 31 games, the Blossoms have tallied 1,880 points, averaging 60.65 points per game.
Southeastern Oklahoma State - The Cotton Blossoms currently trail the Storm, with an overall record of 11-19, dating back to their first meeting on December 12, 1991. The largest margin of victory for the Blossoms came via a 62-44 win on February 20, 2020. At home, UAM is 4-9, while they are 4-9 on the road.
