BETHANY, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevil baseball team (3-4, 2-0 GAC) opened Great American Conference play Sunday afternoon in Bethany, Oklahoma taking on the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene at Feland Field (Cypert Athletic Complex). The Boll Weevils secured back-to-back wins in the twin bill day over the Storm, 6-3 and 8-0 to open conference play 2-0.

Scoring Recap:
The Boll Weevils were on the board first in game one in the top of the first as
Elijah Olaybal singled to left center to bring in
Camden Tanner for the first run of GAC play.
The Crimson Storm would equal that run in the third, tying the game 1-1.
Arkansas-Monticello would add a four run cushion in the sixth as
Drew Floyd and
Darcy Barry would round home off another Olaybal single this time up the middle. Olaybal himself would find home along with
Daniel Lizarraga off a
Eli Marvin single up the middle.
The final run for UAM came in the seventh as Lizarraga plated Floyd with his own single up the middle.
SNU would cut the win deficit to just three in the ninth, but would fall short as the Boll Weevils took game one 6-3.
Pitching Performances:

Tyler Bribiescas secured the win for the Weevils pitching 6.1 innings on the day. He allowed one run on four hits in his time of work, and recorded four strikeouts while facing 25 batters.

Bryce McGuire was called from the bullpen and faced 11 batters allowing two runs on five hits, striking out one in his 2.0 innings of work.

John White finished game one for UAM recording the save after facing three batters.

Arkansas-Monticello was the only team to score runs in game two, plating the first three in the second inning.
Drew Floyd would plate
Darcy Barry with a single up the middle, prior to crossing home himself alongside
Sebastian Hernandez off a SNU error.
Jackson Riedling would make it a 4-0 nothing ballgame in the fourth with a solo home run to right field.
Elijah Olaybal and
Daniel Lizarraga would join
Gabe Kuttenkuler in crossing the plate in the fifth as Kuttenkuler drove a three run home run over the right center wall.
The Weevils would add the eighth and final run in the seventh as Floyd double to first base scoring Riedling. With the 8-0 win the Weevils improved to 3-4 overall, 2-0 GAC.

Hunter Heath recorded the win on the mound for the Weevils pitching 5 innings allowing just three hits and striking out 5 batters in his 19 batters faced.
