Alyssa Batton and
Alindsey Long led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (6-19, 1-18 GAC), each posting 18 points in the matchup. Batton gave a double-double performance on the night, grabbing 11 total rebounds, 10 defensive and 1 offensive, while hitting 6-of-13 field goals, two three-pointers, and 4-of-5 free throws. She also contributed one assist. Long hit 6-of-15 field goals in her performance, with two shots from range. She was also a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, with five rebounds and an assist.
Southwestern Oklahoma (11-13, 9-10 GAC) was led by
Landry Allen with 15 points.
The opening quarter proved a draw between the two teams. Arkansas-Monticello shot for 39% on the quarter, compared to SWOSU's 35%, but ultimately saw the period close with a 16-16 tie. A jumper from
Alyssa Batton gave the Blossoms an early lead, but saw the gap close as the Lady Bulldog offense returned fire.
Quarter two was a much more efficient 10 minutes for UAM, as the Blossoms increased their shooting percentage to 58%, scoring 7-of-12 total field goals. UAM would outscore the Lady Bulldogs 18-17 in the period and head to the locker rooms leading 34-33. There were seven lead changes throughout the second, with the final coming on a three-pointer from
Alindsey Long with 0:06 left on the clock.
The second half saw Arkansas-Monticello trail Southwestern Oklahoma in each of the final quarters. UAM made only 16 points to SWOSU's 18 in the third, followed by a 12-to-19 scoring total in the fourth. A brief tie at 47-47 with 1:42 left on the clock in the fourth was the last time the Lady Bullogs did not leave. The game would eventually end with a 70-62 loss for UAM.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 14 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
