Blossoms Leave Alva with a Loss to NWOSU

ALVA, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's Basketball team traveled to Alva, Oklahoma, to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday. The Blossoms came out of the contest with an 83-63 loss to the Lady Rangers.

Alindsey Long and Jena Warden led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (6-20, 1-19 GAC), posting 17 and15 points, respectively. Long hit 5-of-11 total field goals, four three-pointers, and went 3-for-3 from the free throw line on the afternoon. She also contributed three defensive rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block in her 31 minutes. Warden hit 6-of-11 total field goals and one three on the day. She gave the Blossoms a rebound and a steal in her 19 minutes.

Brilynn Findley was the third Blossom in double-digits, scoring 12 points for UAM. Findley was 5-for-12 on field goals, with two threes. She dished out four assists, while grabbing two rebounds and two steals.

Northwestern Oklahoma State  (18-8, 13-7 GAC) was led by Kira Bass with 25 points.

The opening half of the game was a battle for the Blossoms, falling behind in each of the two quarters. NWOSU outscored UAM 25-15 in the first, and 19-15 in the second. The teams were sent to the locker room at the half with UAM trailing 44-30.

Arkansas-Monticello returned from the half, driven to cut Northwestern Oklahoma State's lead, but were cut just short of the goal in the third, getting outscored 20-19. UAM was unable to chase down the Lady Ranger lead, eventually dropping the contest, 83-63.

Arkansas-Monticello committed 15 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Blossoms travel to Searcy, Arkansas, on Thursday, February 26, where they take on Great American Conference member Harding University. The match is set to tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
