Weevils Basketball Drop Thursday Road Trip in Searcy

SEARCY, Ark. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevils took on the Bisons of Harding University on Thursday night inside the Rhodes-Reaves Field House. The Weevils came out of the evening meeting with an 85-64 loss.

Ashton Price led Arkansas-Monticello (10-17,6-15 GAC) with a season-high 26 points. Price connected with 6-of-18 field goals on the night, while hitting 13-16 shots from the line. He also grabbed four rebounds, dished out four assists, and had two steals.

Isaac Jackson and Josh Smith were the other two Boll Weevils in double-digits on the afternoon, posting 11 points each. Jackson was 4-for-14 on field goals, with a perfect 3-3 of free throws hit. He also had four rebounds, three steals, two assists, and a block. Smith finished the night with his third double-double of the season, grabbing 10 rebounds on the night, while hitting 5-of-8 field goals. He also had two assists and a block on the night.

Harding (20-7,16-5 GAC) was led by Keyln McBride and Reggie Webster with 18 points each.

The opening half of the game was primarily controlled by the home team. Arkansas-Monticello hit 8-of-29 field goals (27.59%), while Harding was 14-for-29 (48.28%). The teams were sent to the locker room at the half with HU leading 41-23.

The second half of the game proved to be a much closer battle between the teams. Unfortunately, the Weevils were outscored 44-41 in the period and would drop the contest, 85-64.

Arkansas-Monticello committed 8 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Weevils will retake the court at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, in Monticello for their final Great American Conference match of the year against the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist.
