HUMBLE, Texas - The Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevil golf team opened their Spring season Monday at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas in the 2026 Houston Classic hosted by Southern Nazarene. The Weevils combined for a two round total of 633 (+57). The Weevils closed out day one in 16th place.
The Weevils shot a two-round combined score of +57, firing +36 in round one and +21 in round two. Dallas Baptist finished atop the leaderboard after day on at 12-under par (564). Fellow Great American Conference member Harding sits tied for third, posting a total of 580 (+4).
Carson Slaughter led the Weevils on day one tied for 53rd at 8-over par (152). Slaughter posted a first-round of 77 (+5), followed by a second-round of 75 (+3).
Landry Rogers shot a first-round of 80 (+8), before posting a second-round of 81 (+9), to finish day one tied for 81st at 17-over par (161).
Blayden Gillham and
Daniel Taylor finished tied for 84th at 18-over par (162). Gillham fired a first-round of 86 (+14) and 4-over par (76) in the second-round. Taylor fired a first-round of 83 (+11) and 7-over par (79) in the second-round.
James Fuhrer closed out the Weevils on day one, finished in 86th at 19-over par (163), after posting a score of 12-over par (84) in round one and 7-over par (79) in round two.
The Weevils combined for 15 birdies for the day, with 6 in round one and 9 in round two.
The Weevils will play the final round of the tournament, tomorrow Tuesday, February 10, starting at 8:30 a.m.
