Weevils to Wrap Up Home Stand Against Christian Brothers Tuesday

MONTICELLO, Ark. -  Arkansas-Monticello's baseball team is set to wrap up its five-game homestand on Tuesday, taking on the Buccaneers of Christian Brothers University at 3:00 p.m. at Union Bank Park.

LAST MEETING
The Weevils bested the Buccaneers in seven innings earlier this season, 19-4. UAM kicked off scoring with an RBI single from Gabe Kuttenkuler, seeing Camden Tanner score with an error by the shortstop. Darcy Berry wrapped up scoring in the first inning with a single. bringing in G. Kuttenkuler and Elijah Olaybal. The Weevils added two more runs in the second and third innings. In the top of the second, a triple from Tanner plated Drew Floyd. Jackson Riedling found home off a double from Kyle Tolley. The Buccaneers rallied in the bottom of the third, driving in three runs on two RBI doubles. The rally closed the deficit to 5-3. Arkansas-Monticello scored two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth, increasing the lead to 8-3. Eli Maring drove in Tanner on an infield single, and Tolley brought Marvin home on a double to center. Lizarraga plated the eighth run in the sixth by taking advantage of a CBU error. A solo home run in the sixth was the final run scored by Christian Brothers. The Boll Weevil offense put on a hitting masterclass in the seventh, scoring 11 runs before the Buccaneers could stop the bleeding. Floyd kicked off the rally with an RBI single that scored Riedling. Floyd would eventually be brought home from third on a balk. Olaybal tacked on two runs with a double to center field, scoring Lizarraga and Tanner. He was brought home by G. Kuttenkuler, who singled to center field and eventually scored on a CBU error. Kyle Tolley took responsibility for runs 15-18 with a grand slam, and Floyd scored for a second time in the inning on a wild pitch. The game would finally come to a close after the seventh with a 19-4 win for UAM. Ryan Mesaris was the winning pitcher of the game, going 3.0 innings with 3 ER allowed on 6 hits with a strikeout.

ALL-TIME SERIES
UAM leads the series 29-13. The first meeting came in March of 1986, a 2-5 loss for the Weevils, with the first win coming in 1997. The longest win streak for the men in green and white stands at nine, with games played between March 2010 and March 2019. At home in Monticello, the Weevils stand 17-3, while on the road they have a 12-10 record. When both teams were active in the Gulf South Conference, the Weevils amassed a 25-10 conference record. In March of 1998, the Boll Weevils recorded the largest margin of victory, 19-2. The Weevils have plated 350 runs, averaging 8.33 runs per game through 42 games played.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE WEEVILS
The Weevils swept the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University this past Friday and Saturday, with final scores of 11-8, 9-3, 12-2 (7 innings).
