Softball Drops Doubleheader with Choctaws in Clinton


Game 1, 7 Innings

Scoring Recap:
The Blossom offense took control early in game one, scoring two runs in the top of the first. Dacia Sexton drove in Aubree Goodnight for the first on a single to right. Maddie Moore brought home Kylie Bonicelli on an infield single, closing the inning with a 2-0 lead for UAM.

Mississippi College responded with a run in the bottom of the inning, scoring on an infield single.

Lainey Tippen plated the third run of the ballgame for Arkansas-Monticello, coming home on a dingle to center field from Aubree Goodnight.

The Choctaws took the lead over the third and fourth innings. They scored two runs in the third on an RBI single, and two in the fourth on an RBI double and a passed ball.

No more runs were scored in the remainder of the game, eventually concluding with a 5-3 loss for UAM.

Pitching Performances:
- Kyleigh Benton started in the circle for the Blossoms, going 3.1 innings with four earned runs allowed on six hits with seven walks and four strikeouts.
- Kayla Olthouse saw 2.2 innings of work with no runs allowed on one hit. She walked two batters and struck out one.

Offensive Showcase:
- Maddie Moore - 3-for-4 with an RBI
- Aubree Goodnight - 2-for-4 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored
- Dacia Sexton - 2-for-4 with 1 RBI

Scoring Recap:
The Choctaws were the only team to score in game two, scoring one run in the second and five runs in the third. The game eventually concluded with a 6-0 loss for UAM.

Pitching Performances:
- Ronnie Johnson started in the circle in game two, going 3.0 innings with six earned runs on seven hits with a walk.
- Makenzie Martin closed out the remaining 3.0 innings, allowing only two hits.

Offensive Showcase:
- Zoe Bridges - 1-for-2 with a double
- Aubree Goodnight - 1-for-2

The ladies in green and white return to Alvy Early Softball Field on Friday, March 20, for a doubleheader with Northwestern Oklahoma State to open the conference series. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3:00 p.m.
