MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Softball team is set to host the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech University on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7 at Alvy Early Field at Ryburn Park to continue GAC action. The Blossoms will take on the Golden Suns in a doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by the series finale on Friday at 12:00 p.m.

LAST MEETING
The Blossoms fell to the Golden Suns in the 2025 season, one game to two, 1-9, 3-5, 7-4. The Golden Suns struck in the bottom of the first, in game one to take an early four-run lead. Two singles advanced runners home, and a wild pitch and a double through the right side brought in the remaining two. ATU tacked on a fifth run in the fourth off a double to left field. The Blossoms plated their only run in the top of the fifth off a Sophie Wood home run to left field. The Suns saw two more runs cross in the fifth, off a ground out and single up the middle, before putting the game out of reach in the sixth off a two-run home run to left field. ATU would take game one, 9-1. Arkansas-Monticello quickly put the first run across home plate three batters into the ball game in game two, with Dacia Sexton scoring off an Aubree Goodnight single to left center. The Golden Suns answered right back in the bottom of the first taking the lead, 3-1, off a home run to left field, an unearned run off a single to left field, and a single up the middle. A double to left center made it a three-run lead iin the fourth in favor of ATU. The Blossoms put their final two runs on the board in the fifth, tying the game 3-3, as Jade Keaton scored off Dacia Sexton's single up the middle, while Maddie Pfleging reached on a fielding error that plated Lainey Tippen. ATU sealed the game, 5-3, off a single up the middle which scored a run, and an unearned run off a single to left field in the sixth. In the third and final game of the series. a Blossoms sixth inning rally secured a 7-4 win over the Suns. The Blossoms put the first run of the game on the board, as Jadyn Hart scored an unearned run off Makenzie Martin's single to right field. The Golden Suns put their first runs of the game home from a single up the middle that scored two before adding an unearned third run from a ground out in the fourth. Kylie Bonicelli singled up the middle to send in Jade Keaton in the fifth to make it a one-run game. ATU would ground out a runner to first base to advance their final runner home. The Cotton Blossoms blew the game wide open in the top of the sixth adding five more runs to the board. Dacia Sexton and Maddie Pfleging scored off a fielding error that placed Aubree Goodnight on first. Makenzie Martin then doubled to left center to bring in Jadyn Hart, before a double from Sophie Wood brought in both Goodnight and Martin, helping UAM take the final game, 7-4. Despite mounting a come-from-behind win in the final game, the Blossoms fell to ATU, 2-1 in the series. 

ALL-TIME SERIES
UAM holds a slight edge over ATU having won 40 meetings to the Golden Suns 39. The record dates back to the first meeting on April 16, 2004, a 6-1 win for the Blossoms. Through 76 games played the Blossoms have complied a 20-19 record at home, 19-19 on the road, 1-1 at neutral site locations, and a 37-38 record in conference play. The largest margin of victory for the Blossoms came in March of 2021, via a 9-1 decider in Monticello. With the longest win streak sitting at six, that spanned from February 2007 to April 2008. To date Arkansas-Monticello has run home 313 times, averaging 3.96 runs per game.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BLOSSOMS
The Blossoms fell in their three game series, 1-2, with the Reddies of Henderson State this past weekend. UAM took game one of the series 2-1, before falling in the doubleheader 7-2, 2-1.
