MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevil baseball resumes midweek play this week with a trip to Magnolia, Arkansas, to take on the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas University at 6:00 p.m. at Walker Stadium at Goodheart Field.

LAST MEETING
2025 GAC TOURNAMENT - The Weevils won the postseason meeting against the Muleriders 18-7 in 8 innings in an elimination game. Southern Arkansas grabbed an early lead with single runs in the first and second innings. UAM tied the game twice. First in the top of the second inning when Roc Hawthorne drove in a run with a single to center, and again in the third on a Camden Tanner RBI single. The Weevils broke the game wide open in the fifth inning, plating nine runs on a combination of disciplined plate appearances and timely hitting. Tanner walked with the bases loaded, Aidan Garrett followed with an RBI single, and Will Owens added a fielder's choice RBI. Cade Cancilla beat out an infield single to bring in another run, then Kirk Woolf punched a two-run single up the middle. Capping off the frame, Chaz Poppy launched a three-run homer to right field, giving UAM an 11-2 advantage. In the sixth, Hawthorne struck again with a two-run single up the middle to stretch the lead to 13-2. Southern Arkansas responded with a brief rally in the bottom half of the sixth, cutting into the deficit with a couple of extra-base hits and home runs. UAM tacked on one in the seventh via an Elijah Nichols RBI double, then added four more in the eighth. Poppy singled home Woolf, Santoyo blasted a two-run homer, and Nichols followed with a solo shot to right — his second extra-base hit of the game — pushing the score to 18-5. SAU added a pair of late runs in the bottom of the eighth but never seriously threatened, as the Weevils cruised to a dominant win. Bryce Louis earned the win in relief, tossing 5.2 innings and allowing 5 earned runs on 8 hits with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts over 84 pitches.

2025 Series - In the series, the Weevils went 2-1 over SAU (2-3, 2-1, 9-5). Chaz Poppy put the Boll Weevils ahead early in game one, launching a two-run home run in the first. Kirk Woolf scored on the drive. The Muleriders saw three solo home runs throughout the ball game. the first in the fifth, a second in the sixth, and the final in the eighth to reclaim the lead. SAU would take game one of the series, 3-2. SAU scored first in game two, scoring in the first inning on an RBI single up the middle. UAM reclaimed the lead in the second with two runs scored. Aidan Garrett drove in Camden Tanner for the first on a double down the right field line. Cade Cancilla drove in Elijah Nichols for the second on a sacrifice fly to left field. Southern Arkansas was unable to score another run in the ballgame, resulting in a 2-1 win for Arkansas-Monticello. Maxim Mrakovcic tossed all 7.0 innings for the Boll Weevils in game two. He allowed one run on four hits with six strikeouts to gain his eighth win of the season. Arkansas-Monticello was on the board first in the final game of the series, scoring seven runs in the second to take the early lead. Will Owens kicked off the rally with a two-RBI single to right, bringing home Aidan Garrett and Elijah Nichols on the play. Roc Hawthorne plated the third run on a single to left, followed by a grand slam from Chaz Poppy to make it a 7-0 ball game. Kyle Tolley launched a two-run bomb in the top of the sixth to increase the UAM lead to 9-0. The Muleriders put five runs up in the bottom of the sixth, but the effort would prove not enough. The game concluded with a 9-5 win for UAM and a 2-1 series win over the rival on the final weekend of the regular season. Tyler Bribiescas started on the mound for UAM, throwing 5.0 innings with three runs allowed on six hits. He struck out three batters.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The Weevils trail in the series, 46-96-1 to the Muleriders, a record that dates back to April 3, 1976, a 7-4 win. The teams have seen one tie through 143 meetings, a 4-4 draw that happened in April of 2000. Since 1976, the Weevils are 23-38-1 at home, 18-50 on the road, and 31-77-1 in conference play. The largest margin of victory for the men in green and white came via an 18-2 decision on March 25, 2001. Through 143 meetings, the Weevils have plated 683 runs, averaging 4.78 per game.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE WEEVILS
The Weevils secured a series win over the Bisons of Harding University, going 2-1 this past weekend. UAM fell in game one on Friday night, 11-9, before besting the Bisons 9-6 (10 innings) in game two, and 11-5 in game three. Camden Tanner book ended game two for the Weevils, hitting a home run to start the at-bats for UAM and walking off in the 10th with a three-run home run.
