RUSSLLVILLE, Ark. -- The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team wrapped up its three-game series against the Wonder Boys of Arkansas Tech University on Friday afternoon in Russellville. The Boll Weevils split the doubleheader, taking game one 18-6 before falling in game two, 8-2.
Game 1, 8 Innings

Scoring Recap:
Arkansas-Monticello jumped out to an early advantage in the second inning, plating five runs to take control of the contest. Camden Tanner drove in the first run after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, while Daniel Lizarraga followed with an RBI single. A pair of wild pitches and an Eli Marvin RBI single capped off the inning as the Weevils grabbed a 5-0 lead.
Arkansas Tech responded with three runs in the bottom half of the second and another in the third to trim the deficit to one run, but UAM quickly regained momentum.
The Weevils answered in the fourth inning with four more runs. Gabe Kuttenkuler drew a bases-loaded walk before Kyle Tolley and Darcy Barry delivered key hits to extend the lead to 9-4.
UAM continued to add insurance throughout the remainder of the game. Elijah Olaybal drove in another run in the fifth inning, while Camden Tanner blasted a three-run home run in the sixth to push the Weevil advantage to 13-4.
After Arkansas Tech picked up a run in the sixth, the Weevils put the finishing touches on the game in the eighth inning. Elijah Olaybal launched a grand slam to center field, scoring AJ Keely, Camden Tanner, and Daniel Lizarraga to give UAM an 18-5 lead and seal the eventual 18-6 victory.
Pitching Performances:
- Vincent Segovia earned the win for Arkansas-Monticello, pitching 6.0 innings while allowing four earned runs on seven hits and striking out three batters.
- Ryan Mesaris entered in relief and pitched the final 2.0 innings for the Weevils.

The Weevils answered in the third inning as Elijah Olaybal delivered a two-run home run to left center, scoring Daniel Lizarraga and cutting the deficit to 4-2.
However, Arkansas Tech responded in the bottom half of the inning with three additional runs, extending their lead to 7-2 after a sacrifice fly, an RBI double, and an RBI single.
The Wonder Boys added one final run in the fourth inning off an RBI single down the right field line to secure the 8-2 victory.
Pitching Performances:
- Hunter Heath started on the mound for Arkansas-Monticello, allowing four runs on three hits in 1.0 inning of work.
- Bryce McGuire entered in relief and worked 1.1 innings.
- Aiden McGee also appeared in relief for the Weevils, closing the remaining 3.2 innings with 1 ERA on 5 hits with 2 strikeouts.
