MONTICELLO, Ark. -- The University of Arkansas at Monticello Volleyball team travels to Magnolia this week to compete in the Mulerider Invitational for the season opener. The 2026 campaign will mark the 22nd in program history.

Coming off a 3-24 record in 2025, the Blossoms look to bounce back and pave a new path. The 2026 squad is led by Head Coach Arlicia Ortiz and is assisted by Mirela Vasconselos.

"I'm extremely excited for this season," said Head Coach Arlicia Ortiz"We have an awesome group of returners who have been a huge part of our culture development, and I'm so glad they're back with us. Our newbies coming in have fit right in and brought their own strengths and flair, really contributing to who we are as a team. Pre-season has been an awesome time seeing everyone get to know each other on and off the court, and I can't wait to see it all come together."

ALL-TIME SERIES
Texas A&M-Kingsville - Heading into the season opener on Thursday, the Blossoms hold a 2-0 record historically over the Javelinas. UAM first played them in 2006, winning 3-0, and last faced off with Kingsville in 2019 at the HSU Invitational, where they won 3-0.

Texas-Tyler - Friday's match-up with the Patriots will be the second time the programs have crossed paths, with the first being in 2025, when the Blossoms lost in three sets.

#12 Central Oklahoma - The Blossoms hold a 1-5 record with the Bronchos since the programs first met in 2009. UAM won the 2012 match-up in five sets, but dropped the most recent meeting in 2023, 3-0.

LeMoyne-Owen College - UAM's final game of the tournament will be the second meeting between the Blossoms and Lady Magicians. The programs first met in the 2022 season, with UAM ultimately taking the win in three sets.

WHERE TO WATCH
The 2026 season will introduce the GAC Sports Network, a new home for all UAM athletic event broadcasts.

Launching for the 2026-27 athletic season, the network will provide fans with comprehensive live and on-demand broadcast coverage from seven participating member institutions and selected GAC post-season championship events.

Participating institutions for the upcoming academic year include Arkansas Tech University, University of Arkansas–Monticello, East Central University, Oklahoma Baptist University, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Southern Arkansas University, and Southern Nazarene University. By implementing this collective subscription model, the GAC joins 14 other NCAA Division II conferences that use similar networks to improve broadcast quality and support campus operations.
