Box Score DURANT, Okla. – The UAM Cotton Blossoms got their second road GAC win today, 68-57, over Southeastern Oklahoma State.
The game went back-and-forth for most of the day, with ten score ties and nine lead changes. Neither team could pull more than a few buckets away from the other in the first half, due in large part to cold shooting on both ends of the court. The shooting made for a low-scoring half, with the Savage Storm taking a 27-25 lead into the break. It would have been higher, but Candace Virgadamo hit one of her three three-pointers on the day with three seconds remaining in the half to cut the SOSU lead down to a single possession before halftime.
The Blossoms’ shooting improved dramatically in the second half. Taylor Clark tied the game out of the locker room with a jumper to knot the game at 27. It was the first of six tied scores in the second half. Catherine Puckett nailed a jumper with 12:26 remaining to tie the game for the final time at 46. The shot sparked a 15-3 run by the Blossoms over the next 5:28 that put the win on ice. Virgadamo hit another three with 6:58 that gave the Blossoms the first double-digit lead of the day, 59-49, the Storm got no closer than eight points again.
The Blossoms’ shooting improved to 52-percent in the second half to put them at 41-percent on the day, 24-58. They shot 40-percent from three, 8-20, and 67-percent from the line, 12-18. SOSU finished 21-53 from the floor, 39-percent, 6-21 from three, 28-percent, and 9-10 from the free throw line, 90-percent.

Channon Haywood and Candace Virgadamo joined her in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Jessica Hesse and Ashley Hobbs led the Savage Storm with 14 points each.
