RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team suffered a 78-62 loss to Arkansas Tech on Thursday night on the road inside Tucker Coliseum.

After a back-and-forth five minutes to open the game, the Golden Suns (7-6, 3-4 Great American Conference) opened up an eight-point lead at the 13:59 mark of the opening half. Tech used an 11-0 run late in the opening period to grab a 16-point lead at the 2:23 mark. The Suns led by as much as 18 points in thefirst half.

After the Suns eclipsed the 20-point mark seven minutes into the second half, the Blossoms (5-8, 1-6 GAC) posted a 12-5 scoring run to trim the deficit to 10 points at the 5:20 mark. All but two of the UAM points during that run camefrom sophomores Jordan Goforth and Nikki Mullen.   

ATU responded with an 11-5 run to close out the final five minutes.

The Blossoms finished the game shooting 43 percent from the field (23-for-53), 20 percent on three-pointers (3-for-15) and 54 percent on foul shots (13-for-24). ATU shot 48 percent from the field (28-for-58), 28 percent on three-pointers (5-for-18) and 77 percent on foul shots (17-for-22).

Goforth led UAM with 14 points. Mullen capped the night with 13 points off the bench, and sophomore Tamia Grady rounded out UAM's double-digit scorers with 10 points.

Jacin Myers-Sanders paced the Suns with 19 points. Anissa Pounds added 17 points.

The Blossoms are back in action this Saturday at home against nationally sixth-ranked Harding. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at Steelman Field House.
