Sophomore Tamia Grady made 14 consecutive free throw attempts and 16-of-22 charity shots total, but the University ofArkansas at Monticello women's basketball team could not hold off Northwestern Oklahoma State in a 62-56 loss Thursday night on the road.

Grady made up for a 3-for-14 performance from the field with her 16 made foul shots on 22 attempts. She finished just one attempt shy of tying the schoolrecord for free throw attempts in a game. Grady finished the game with 22 points in 36 minutes.

After a back-and-forth first half and first 10 minutes of the second half, the Rangers (4-12, 4-6 Great American Conference) used a 9-1 scoring run to create separation in the final 10 minutes of regulation. NWOSU's Relina Johnson nailed a layup at the 10:34 mark of the second half to give her team a four-point lead before sinking a three-pointer two minutes later to give the Rangers a 44-38 lead.

UAM (5-13, 1-11 GAC) trimmed the deficit to just one point on three different occasions in the final five minutes of the second half and forced the game's 12th tie score on a pair of free throws from Grady at the 3:46 mark. However, NWOSU answered on each occasion to prevent the Blossoms from ever regaining the lead.  

In the first half, neither team led by more than four points with NWOSU jumping out to a 5-1 lead in the first four minutes. UAM grabbed its first lead of the half on a pair of free throws from sophomore Tamia Grady to cap a 6-0 scoring run and give the Blossoms a 7-5 lead at the 13:07 mark.

There were four lead changes and six tie scores in the first 20 minutes, with UAM holding its final lead on a jumper from junior Brandae Carroll at the 1:25 mark to give her team a 23-21 edge. NWOSU's Emily Eaton nailed a three-pointer with 25 seconds remaining to give the Rangers a 24-23 lead at the halftime break.

UAM finished the game shooting 33 percent from the field (15-for-46), nine percent on three-pointers (1-for-11) and 69 percent on foul shots (25-for-36). The Rangers shot 37 percent from the field (20-for-54), 42 percent on three-pointers (8-for-19) and 70 percent on foul shots (14-for-20).

In addition to Grady's 22 points, Goforth also reached double-digits in scoring with 16 points after a 5-for-10 performance from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 outing at the free throw line. Goforth also added 11 rebounds in the loss for her first double-double of the season and second of her career.

NWOSU's top scorers came off the bench. Kamera Bozeman had 17 points in 26 minutes and Relina Johnson had 11 points in 20 minutes.

The Blossoms are back in action this Saturday on the road against Southwestern Oklahoma State Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. in Weatherford, Okla.
