MONTICELLO, Ark. – With the COVID-19 global pandemic causing disarray across all sports, the UAM athletic department would like to honor those seniors not returning to play next year. This is the second of our virtual Senior Days honoring those spring sport members who have dawned the Kelly Green and White over the last few seasons. Here are all the honorees:

Belle Tan (Singapore and Coppell, Texas/Coppell High School)
Major – Political Science and Accounting
Collegiate Athletic Career – A four-year member of the UAM women's golf team, Belle has played 68 rounds in 32 events for the Blossoms. She has amassed five top-10 finishes and 19 top-25's. Her best finish was during her junior year where she placed fourth and her best round was a 77, which she did two times; once during her freshman year and her sophomore year.
Favorite Athletic Memory – "My favorite athletic memory was being awarded the Elite Scholar Athlete award at the GAC dinner last year."
Favorite thing about UAM – "My favorite thing about UAM is all the people that have continue to support and help me grow."
Stephane Perrin (Cluny, France/Lycee Lamartime)
Major – Business Marketing
Collegiate Athletic Career – Steph is a four-year member of UAM men's golf. He's played 74 rounds in 28 events for the Weevils and has five top-10 finishes and 10 top-25's. During his sophomore year, he shot his best round of 66 and also recorded his best finish in fourth place.
Favorite Athletic Memory – "My favorite UAM athletic memory was when we shot the lowest round in school history as a team (276) and an individual for me (66)."
Favorite thing about UAM – "My favorite thing about UAM are the teachers in the business building and all the friends I've made."
Wilson Powell (Jefferson, Texas/Jefferson High School)
Major – Nursing
Collegiate Athletic Career – Another four-year member of the Weevils, Wilson has put together a solid career in the green and white playing 93 rounds in 35 events. He had a career-best three top-10 finishes this year adding to his total of six and has also 19 career top-25 finishes. His junior season, he registered a first-place finish and shot a low of 67. This year, he managed a sixth-place finish for his best and also tied his career-low of 67 on a round.
Favorite Athletic Memory – "My favorite athletic memory is winning my tournament."
Favorite thing about UAM – "The guys on the team my freshman year will always be my best friends with an unbreakable bond."
Jeffrey Whitson (Moore, Okla./Moore High School)
Major – English
Collegiate Athletic Career – Jeff has been a member of the men's golf program for four years as well playing in 55 total rounds over 21 events. He recorded a top-25 finish last year and had a career-best average throughout the season shooting 77.52. His career-best round was a 70 back in his sophomore season. Jeff was also an integral member of the UAM Sports Student Staff while a member of the UAM Golf Squad.
Favorite Athletic Memory – "My favorite athletic memory was going to Gallardia CC in Oklahoma City as a freshman. The whole top five for that event was the freshman class."
Favorite thing about UAM – "My favorite thing about UAM is the chocolate chip cookies in the cafeteria."
Kaylee Freeman (The Colony, Texas/The Colony High School)
Major – Animal Science
Collegiate Athletic Career – This year, Kaylee was 2-2 in 15 appearances and four starts. She led the team in innings pitched at 40.2 and had a pair of complete games. Last season, she hurled 39.1 innings and went 1-2 while striking out 16 batters. As a sophomore, we saw her shift into the circle as a pitcher carrying a 3.63 ERA going 2-3 with 19 punch outs. In her freshman season, Freeman was not in the circle but at the plate. She hit .210 with three home runs and 10 RBI and started in all 56 games she played.
Favorite Athletic Memory – "Being selected as the Pitcher of the Week in the GAC my freshman year."
Favorite thing about UAM – "My favorite thing about UAM is how small the community is and being able to have great relationships with classmates and instructors."
Scott Gillespie (Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada/Lethbridge College)
Collegiate Athletic Career – A member of the UAM baseball squad for two years, Gillespie was a member of the 2019 GAC Championship Team. Out of the bullpen in 2019, he registered a 2-1 record in 13 appearances recording 23 strikeouts. This year, Gillespie made four appearances out of the bullpen had six k's. He made one of those appearances against Augustana (S.D.) at Minute Maid Park in the Houston Winter Invitational.
Favorite Athletic Memory – "My favorite athletic memory was having Borman winning us the Conference Championship in 2019 with a walk-off grand slam."
Favorite thing about UAM – "My favorite thing about UAM was the people. I was only here for two years, but I made friends for life at UAM."
Matthew Harrison (Magee, Miss./Nicholls State University)
Major – Interdisciplinary Studies
Collegiate Athletic Career – Matt came to the Weevils in 2020 after bouncing around from Nicholls State University and Meridian Community College before that. This year, Harrison registered a 5.40 ERA over 6.2 innings. He had seven strikeouts and had a pair of appearances where punched out two batters. He played just one season at NSU recording a 1.50 ERA earning one save out of the bullpen and hurling 12.0 total innings. At Meridian, he appeared in 28 games as a reliever tallying a 2-0 record, a 5.89 ERA over 18.1 innings in 2018. His freshman year, he was 3-2 with a 6.00 ERA in 24.0 innings.
Favorite Athletic Memory – "My favorite athletic memories were baseball team bus rides and spending time with all the guys."
Favorite thing about UAM – "My most favorite thing about UAM is the inclusive culture, where everyone is treated like family. Everyone is welcomed, included and considered a needful part."
Hunter Huckabee (North Richland Hills, Texas/Carl Albert CC)
Collegiate Athletic Career – Hunter joined UAM in 2019 after spending a pair of seasons at Carl Albert State College. In 2020, he made just four appearances and three starts registering 10.2 innings pitched. Last year, he was second on the roster in wins to
Matt Lundh, tallying seven, and was first in innings pitched a 73.1. He also had a 4.66 ERA and punched out 61 batters. At Carl Albert, he made 14 appearances including eight starts and tallied a 5.17 ERA with 36 strikeouts.
Favorite Athletic Memory – "My favorite athletic memory at UAM was winning conference on Borman's walk-off grand slam last year."
Favorite thing about UAM – "My favorite thing about UAM is all of the new friends I made and the great group of guys I got to compete with every single day."
Justin Hutton (Byram, Miss./Copiah-Lincoln CC)
Major – Business Finance
Collegiate Athletic Career – Justin has hurled for the Weevils the last two seasons coming from Copiah-Lincoln. In 2020, he was close to perfect making just one appearance allowing a lone hit in and no runs scored in UAM's 11-4 win over Ouachita Baptist. In 2019, Hutton made five appearances allowing four runs in 6.1 innings while punching out five. Prior to UAM, Hutton managed a 3.07 ERA at CLCC in 15 relief appearances striking out 14.
Favorite Athletic Memory – "My favorite memory was going to South Dakota for regionals."
Favorite thing about UAM – "My favorite thing about UAM was that I loved how I wasn't a number to my professors and how they truly wanted to help me reach my goals for my future."
Ryan Tow
Major – Mass Communications
Collegiate Athletic Career – A five-year member of the baseball program, Ryan has been in Kelly Green and White since 2016. In those seasons, he's been on the roster for all four of UAM's GAC Championships and three NCAA Regional appearances. In 2020, Tow had one of the biggest hits of his career stroking a double to the right of the Crawford Boxes in Minute Maid Park in UAM's trip to Houston.
Favorite Athletic Memory – "My favorite memory was hitting the biggest double of my life at Minute Maid Park."
Favorite thing about UAM – "My favorite thing about UAM was meeting my best friends and making the memories I'll remember for the rest of my life."
