Monticello, Ark. - Each week the Weekly Weevil Write Up takes a closer look at what's in store for the University of Arkansas at Monticello in the coming days.

Five sports will be in action this week for UAM as baseball, men's golf and softball begin the 2021 season. Meanwhile, men's and women's basketball have more schedule changes and volleyball prepares for its home opener.

Baseball

Full Schedule

The UAM baseball team starts the 2021 campaign at Weevils Field for a three-game series against Delta State Friday and Saturday.

First pitch Friday is set for 2 p.m. and Saturday will be a double-header with game one starting at noon.

Women's Basketball Schedule

Due to COVID-19 protocols and Great American Conference guidelines, the UAM women's basketball games Monday at Southern Arkansas, Thursday at Henderson State Harding and Saturday against Ouachita Baptists have been canceled.

The UAM men's basketball contest Monday at Southern Arkansas has been moved to 6 p.m. Thursday's matchup at Henderson State is set for a 7 p.m. tip. The Weevils home game against Ouachita Baptist Saturday will remain at 4 p.m.

UAM split a pair of GAC contests last week losing on Thursday 79-69 to Harding and beating Arkansas Tech 67-62 Saturday. The victory over the Wonder Boys gave head coach Kyle Tolin his 100th career win at UAM.
 

Men's Golf

Full Schedule

The UAM men's golf team tees off the 2021 season at the Houston Classic in Houston, Texas.

The Weevils will play 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday at the Golf Club of Houston.

Softball

Full Schedule

The Blossoms softball team begins its season at the McGhee-Hawkins Invitational hosted by Henderson State.

UAM will play a pair games Sunday with the first starting at noon against Maryville University. The Blossoms will then face Texas A&M University - Kingsville at 2 p.m.

Volleyball

Full Schedule

The UAM volleyball team hosts Ouachita Baptist for the 2021 home opener Tuesday at 6 p.m.

UAM dropped its matchup last week at Arkansas Tech last week 3-0.
