Box Score MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team hosted Crowley's Ridge College on Wednesday evening for the 2024 home opener. The Blossoms came out with an 85-59 victory over the Pioneers.
Bailey Harris led the way for Arkansas-Monticello (2-1) with 13 points in the match-up. Harris hit 6-15 field goals on the day, with a three-pointer. She also led the team in total rebounds with eight in her 20 minutes played, grabbing five defensive and three offensive. Harris also grabbed three steals and an assist in the game.
Kennedee Shelton followed close behind in double-digits on the afternoon, posting 12 points of her own. Shelton went 4-12 on field goals and 1-2 on threes with seven rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Alindsay Long and
Cha'Myrean Ellis were the final Blossoms with ten points each in the game. Long was 4-8 on the night in field goals, with two shots from beyond the arc, two assists, and a steal. Ellis gave a 3-7 performance and went 4-4 from the line while grabbing seven rebounds and two steals.
Crowley's Ridge College (4-1) was led by
Jordan Rasmussen with 14 points.
Arkansas-Monticello held control for the entirety of the game, outscoring Crowley's Ridge in all four quarters. The first points of the home opener came from UAM's
Alindsey Long on a three-pointer within 13 seconds of the game. The Blossoms won the opening half of the game, seeing UAM outscore the Pioneers 26-17 in the first quarter and 24-20 in the second. The teams were off to the locker rooms at the half with the Blossoms on top, 50-37.
The second half saw the Blossoms once again increase their lead over the Pioneers. UAM posted 16 points to CRC's 13, increasing the advantage to 16 points in the third quarter. The Blossoms held the Pioneers to single digits in the fourth quarter, outscoring Crowley's Ridge 19-9. The Blossoms saw a game-high lead of 30 points after a layup from
Mahogany Pierce with 1:37 left on the clock. As the time ran out, Arkansas-Monticello came out on top in 85-59 victory.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 15 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
