MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's Basketball team will split a pair of matches this week as they take on two in-state foes. The Cotton Blossoms will start the week in Magnolia, Arkansas on Thursday, January 23 at 5:30 p.m. taking on the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas University, before returning to Steelman Fieldhouse to take on the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech Univeristy on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1:00 p.m.
"Two instate rivals and really god teams," said Head Coach
David Midlick.
"They play different styles and we will have to be ready for each. Right now we also have to concentrate on what we can do to get better on both ends"

LAST MEETING
Southern Arkansas University - The Blossoms dropped their last meeting to the Muleriders, 72-76 in Magnolia in February of 2024.
Bailey Harris was the leading scorer for Arkansas-Monticello with 19 points, going 8-13 on total field goals, 1-1 on threes, and 2-3 on shots from the free throw line. Harris also contributed four rebounds, three assists and a steal in her 37 minutes.
Azaria Hulbert followed close behind, posting 18 points of her own on the game. She hit 7-10 field goals and 4-6 three pointers while giving the Blossoms two defensive rebounds and a steal.
Alindsey Long and
Haleigh Crews were the final Blossoms in double digits, scoring 15 and 11 points against the Muleriders, respectfully. Long hit 6-10 field goals and 3-5 three pointers with four rebounds, three assists, and a steal on the day. Crews hit 4-6 field goals and 3-3 shots from the line with five rebounds and three assists. Arkansas-Monticello committed 31 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
Arkansas Tech University - UAM proved victorious over the Golden Suns in December, taking them down, 62-55, in Russellville.
Alyssa Batton led the way for Arkansas-Monticello, scoring 13 points in the match-up. Batton hit 5-11 field goals on the day and 3-6 on three-pointers. She also contributed two rebounds in her 27 minutes played, with one defensive and one offensive. She grabbed one assist and one steal on the evening.
Kelsey Blakemore followed close behind on the afternoon, posting 11 points of her own. Blakemore went 4-11 on field goals and 3-3 from the free throw line. She also contributed eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Alindsay Long was the final Blossom in double-digits, with 10 points in the game. Long was 4-6 in field goals and 2-4 on three-pointers with one assist and one steal. Arkansas-Monticello committed 12 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

Southern Arkansas University - The Cotton Blossoms lead the Muleriders with an overall record of 68-43, dating back to the first meeting in November of 1973. The first win came during that opening meeting with the Blossoms taking down the Muleriders, 44-38. At home in Monticello the Blossoms are 38-17, while on the road in Magnolia they are 26-27. Through games played, UAM has put up 8,014 points, averaging 72.2 points per game. The largest margin of victory for the Blossoms came in November of 1973 with the Blossoms beating the Muleriders, 44-38.
Arkansas Tech University - The Golden Suns lead with an overall record of 80-34 over the Cotton Blossoms, with the first game dating back to January of 1975. At home in Monticello, the Blossoms are 23-28, while they trail ATU 10-44 in Russellville. Through 114 games played, the Blossoms have put up 7,225 points against the Golden Suns, averaging 63.38 points per game. The largest margin of victory for the green and white came in January 1977 when they beat Arkansas Tech 86-35. Out of the 113 games played, six have ended in overtime, with only 2 being winners for the Blossoms.

- UAM went 0-2 last week, falling to the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State University, 74-57, and the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State Univeristy, 63-48.
