DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The UAM Cheer team completed the prelims for their NCA College Nationals appearance in Daytona Beach, Florida on Thursday afternoon. They head into the finals of the competition on Friday afternoon after coming out of the prelims in 5th place.
After coming out of the prelims with a raw score of 80.1667, the team holds a fifth-place position out of 11 teams competing in the division. The team saw only 0.25 points in deductions and holds an event score of 22.206 going into Friday. The top five teams coming out of the prelims, from first to fifth, are: Lindenwood University (85.0667, 23.6296), Saginaw Valley State University (82.3, 22.6736), King University (81.4, 22.5486), the University of Texas-Permian Basin (80.3667, 22.2616), and the University of Arkansas at Monticello (80.1667, 22.206).
All three Arkansas schools competing in the division came out of prelims with a top-10 placement. UAM leads the group in fifth, followed by Southern Arkansas in sixth, and Henderson State in eighth.
Thursday's score will count for 25% of their total and Friday's score, from the finals, will count for the remaining 75%. The team is looking forward to competing in the finals this afternoon.
