DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello cheer program is heading back down to Daytona Beach, Florida, for the NCA Collegiate Cheer National Championship this weekend.
The team will compete against 26 teams in the Intermediate Small Coed Division II, including three teams from Arkansas: Arkansas Tech, Southern Arkansas, and Arkansas-Fort Smith. Also among the field are two other Great American Conference teams, Southeastern and Southern Nazarene.
"I couldn't be more proud of this team and the journey we've taken together," said head coach
Julie Barnes.
"Competing at NCA College Cheer Nationals is a testament to their commitment, resilience, and trust in one another. They've pushed through challenges and grown stronger every step of the way, continuing to raise the standard of what this program represents. Watching them become not just better athletes, but better teammates and people, has been incredibly rewarding. I'm truly honored to lead them as we take the mat ready to represent UAM with confidence, heart, and purpose."
The team saw three consecutive years where they finished fifth nationally, followed by a sixth-place finish in 2025. You can see last year's release

"Cheer has been such a big part of my life for the past four years, and it's hard to believe it's coming to an end," said captain and senior
Skylar Sudduth.
"I've made so many amazing memories and friendships that I'll carry with me forever. I've poured my heart into this program, and I'm so grateful for every moment. It's taught me so much about hard work and pushing through tough times. I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. I can't wait to hit the mat in Daytona one last time and be the best we can be."
They will be competing in the prelims on Friday, April 10, at 4:23 PM EDT. Links to purchase
live stream access are available on the official website. Finals will be held on Saturday, April 11th, with the performance time determined by the team's rankings from Friday's prelims.
