DALLAS, Texas - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its National Player of the Week awards on Thursday morning.

University of Arkansas at Monticello senior catcher Eli Marvin was named DII National Hitter of the Week, while Saginaw Valley State right-handed pitcher Jack Sequin was named National Pitcher of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division II Conference and names winners each week throughout the season.

Marvin received the Great American Conference POTW honor on Tuesday and the NCBWA Central Region POTW honor on Wednesday. His four-game display of hitting was among the most complete and explosive weeks in Division II, going 14-for-19 (.737) with four home runs, 14 RBI, 27 total bases, nine runs scored, one walk, and one hit-by-pitch while guiding the Boll Weevils to a series sweep over Oklahoma Baptist University.

The Ellsinore, Missouri, native hit a home run in every game of the three-game weekend series with Oklahoma Baptist. In game one, Marvin went 4-for-5 in the 16-9 win over the Bison, driving in seven runs on a two-run home run to center field and five more RBI on three singles. Game two saw Marvin go a perfect 5-for-5, with a two-run home run to center field, an RBI double down the left field line, and three singles with another RBI in the first. Marvin delivered a multi-homer performance in the 16-7 game three win, launching two solo shots over the wall in center field.

Earlier in the week, Marvin grabbed two singles and a walk in his 2-for-4 game at Delta State (RV).

Marvin concluded the week with an incredible 1.421 slugging percentage, while posting a .761 on-base percentage.

On Deck For The Weevils: The University of Arkansas-Monticello will host the Reddies of Henderson State University on Friday, February 27, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, February 28, at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The games will be played at Weevils Field at Union Bank Park.
