FARMER SCORES 35, WEEVILS BEAT UAFS 91-81

FORT SMITH, Ark. – Junior guard LA Farmer scored 35 points to lead the University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball team to a 91-81 road-win over Arkansas-Fort Smith on Friday night.

 

Farmer was 9-of-11 from the field, 3-of-7 from three-point range and 14-of-19 from the foul line to go along with his final tally of four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

 

Senior Jerrell Boswell turned in a season-high 20 points in the win after making 4-of-12 from the field including 3-of-7 on three-pointers. The Covington, Ga. native was also 9-of-10 from the foul line.

 

Senior Terrence Hill also reached double-digits in scoring for UAM with 12 points on perfect 4-of-4 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 shooting from the foul line.

 

As a team, UAM (4-1) finished the night shooting 56 percent from the field (24-of-43), 50 percent from three-point range (7-of-14) and 69 percent from the foul line (36-of-52). UAFS (4-3) finished the game shooting 45 percent from the field (28-of-62), 21 percent from three-point range (6-of-28) and 73 percent from the foul line (19-of-26).

 

Jalynn Mitchell was the Lion’s top scorer with 17 points. Josh Simmons and Gavin Glanton chipped in with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

 

The Boll Weevils return to action in the UAFS Classic on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Dallas Baptist, which defeated Gulf South Conference rival Henderson State 85-65 on Friday.
