NO. 22 HARDING TAKES DOWN UAM IN OT, 80-75

SEARCY, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball team squandered a nine-point lead in the second half to drop an 80-75 overtime decision to No. 22 Harding University on Monday at Rhodes Field House.

The Boll Weevils (10-7, 2-3 Gulf South Conference) sent the Bisons (15-2, 5-0 GSC) to the free-throw line 11 times in the extra period, with Harding connecting on nine of those attempts to seal the win. UAM only scored a total of eight points in overtime.

UAM led by as much as nine points at the 18:08 mark of the second half following a three-pointer from junior Sergio Crowe to give UAM a 38-29 advantage. Harding answered with a 14-4 scoring to take a one-point lead with 12:41 remaining in regulation.

The Bisons only lost the lead once more following that run despite being tied with UAM six times throughout the remainder of the contest.

Crowe led all scorers with 23 points and collected a game-high 13 rebounds for his fourth consecutive double-double. Juniors LA Farmer and Ricardo Hall also reached double-figures with 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Harding had four scorers reach double-figures, led by Kirk Porter’s 18 points. Bradley Spencer had 15, Kevin Brown had 13 and Sam Brown had 12.

The Boll Weevils finished the contest shooting 36 percent from the field (25-of-70), 30 percent on three-pointers (8-of-27) and 74 percent at the free-throw line (17-of-23). The Bisons shot 50 percent from the field (27-of-54), 30 percent on three-pointers (6-of-20) and 65 percent on foul shots (20-of-31).

UAM returns to action this Thursday, January 27 in Magnolia, Ark. against Southern Arkansas. Tipoff is set for approximately 7:30 p.m. at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.
