WEEVILS FALL AT SOUTHEASTERN 64-67

Box Score DURANT, Okla. – The UAM men’s basketball team fell on the road tonight, 64-67, to the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm.
 
The Savage Storm (8-14, 4-6 GAC) led throughout most of the game. The Weevils’ (15-7, 5-5 GAC) got their first of two leads in the game early in the first half. Kori Forge and L.A. Farmer hit back-to-back threes to put UAM up 13-9, but the lead got no higher than five before SOSU regained the advantage.
 
After tying the score at 16 Southeastern closed the half on a 21-9 run that placed them firmly in the driver’s seat for the rest of the game. The Weevils battled hard to erase the first half deficit for the first ten minutes of the second. They slowly chipped away at the Savage Storm lead until a Kori Forge three with 8:55 remaining gave UAM a 53-51 lead. Unfortunately, the Storm retook the lead almost immediately and did not relinquish it again.
 
UAM shot 34-percent on the night, going 23-68 from the field, including 8-23 from three (35-percent). They shot 10-18 at the foul line for 56-percent. SOSU went 30-62 from the floor, including 5-19 from three, for 48 and 26-percent. They shot just six foul shots all night, hitting two for 33-percent.
 
Kori Forge led the Weevils with 18 points in 37 minutes. Sergio Crowe posted 15, while Ricardo Hall and L.A. Farmer rounded out those in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. A.J. Calhoun was two points away from a double-double with 10 rebounds and 8 points in 25 minutes.
 
The Weevils will return home next Saturday to host Henderson State in a 4:00 match up inside Steelman Field House.
