LAKE ERIE SHUTS WEEVILS OUT, 5-0

Box Score Box Score

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The UAM baseball team had more errors than hits today as they fell 5-0 to the Lake Erie College Storm.

UAM (11-10) was held to just two hits on the day thanks to the LEC tandem of Adam Beach and Doug Fox. Lake Erie (2-6) produced ten hits and took advantage of three UAM errors to cruise to the victory.

The Storm put up single runs in each of the first five innings while the UAM bats were held virtually silent. Wayne Hawkins had a double in the first, but could not advance farther, and Taylor Eaves had a double in the third with two outs before the inning ended with a zero on the home score.

UAM used five different pitchers in the game in an effort to slow the Storm offense down. Alex Mann took the loss in the start for the Weevils, going 1.1 innings and allowing two runs on two hits with two walks. Jesse Barnes went three innings, giving up three runs on three hits. Brent Noble went for 1.1, giving up no runs on three hits. Eddie Smith gave up no hits in his 1.1 innings while Christian Gallegos closed the final two innings, allowing one hit.

The Weevils will look to put this one behind them as they host Southern Arkansas this weekend for a three-game GAC-series. Game one of the Saturday doubleheader begins at noon. Sunday’s single game begins at 1 p.m.
