SCOUTING THE WEEVILS
UAM will play Ouachita Baptist today on the road in Arkadelphia for its second straight Great American Conference game. The Weevils are coming off a 104-80 win at home against Harding, while OBU just lost on the road at Arkansas Tech, 82-74.

The Weevils continued their offensive progression last time out hitting triple-digits for the second consecutive game. Once again, UAM had five players in double-figures. KJ Lesure led the way with 26, while Marcus Gilbert registered 22. Denzel McDuffey added 16, Wanya King posted 13 and Justin Slocum finished with 12.

UAM has continued to hold onto the ball well and shoot exceptionally well. The Weevils are 12th in NCAA Division II in turnovers per game (10.0) and are 41st in fewest turnovers with just 40. Offensively, UAM is shooting 49.5 percent from the floor, which is 45th in Division II.

The Weevils are also shooting pretty well from downtown thus far at 37.9 percent and have drilled at least 10 three pointers in back-to-back games.

It helps on offense when five of your players are averaging at least 10.0 points per contest. Lesure has paced the scoring averaging 19.0, while Gilbert is just behind at 18.0. Slocum and Hardy add 10.5 and 10.3, while McDuffey rounds out the double-digit scoring with an even 10.0 per game.

UAM is not afraid to share the wealth as well. Three players have recorded at least 10 assists in thus far with Lesure totaling 20, Gilbert 16 and McDuffey adding 11.

At the free throw line, the Weevils are shooting 71.7 percent from the floor with Lesure and Gilbert shooting over 80 percent at the stripe.

On defense, UAM is outrebounding its opponents in rebounds per game at 41.3-34-4. However, teams are shooting fairly well against the Weevils averaging 42.3 percent from the floor and 36.9 percent from three-point land.

The Weevils have forced 57 turnovers and have a +17 turnover margin totaling just 40 of their own in four games.

The team also has a pair of key shot blockers in McDuffey and Kwame McBean. Both have totaled four blocks apiece.

OBU is a solid rebounding team thus far with six players in double-digits. Smith and Stanley lead the way in that category as well with 24 and 20 boards, respectively.

As a team, the Tigers are shooting 38.1 percent from the floor and allowing opponents to shoot 45.0 percent. Teams are also shooting 34.9 percent from downtown.
