SCOUTING THE WEEVILS
UAM will play Arkansas Tech University on the road in Russellville getting back to conference games for the first time since November 23rd. The Weevils enter the contest with a 7-1 overall record and a 2-0 Great American Conference mark. Arkansas Tech comes into this one with a 4-2 overall record and a 1-1 conference record.
Last time out, UAM put up a season-high 114 points to get a 114-82 win over Randall University on December 4th. In that contest,
Austin Hardy led all scorers with a season-high 27 points after going 5-of-8 from downtown.
Wanya King also added 25 points going 6-10 from three-point land. As for the Wonder Boys, they enter this game coming off a 109-68 victory over Baptist Bible.
The Weevils are currently riding a seven-game winning streak, which is its longest win streak since it won 11 games back in 2016-17.
Much of UAM's early success is due to its impressive offense. The Weevils are ninth in NCAA Division II in total assists (161), 13th in scoring offense (92.4 ppg), 13th in field goal percentage (52.6%) and 16th in scoring margin (+19.5).
UAM also is ranked pretty high in a defensive category ranking 20th in steals per game at 9.9.
Currently, UAM has six players averaging at least 10 points per game in
Marcus Gilbert (16.8),
KJ Lesure (16.0), Hardy (12.8),
Justin Slocum (11.5),
Wanya King (11.3) and
Denzel McDuffey (11.0).
All five of UAM's starters are shooting at least 40.0 percent from the floor with Lesure tallying the highest percentage of 55.4 percent.
Lesure also leads the team in distribution with 61 total assists, ranking fifth in the country.
McDuffey leads UAM rebounders averaging 6.8 boards per game while Gilbert and Slocum also record at least 5.0 a contest at 5.8, and 5.4, respectively.
On defense, the Weevils have 79 total steals and 33 blocks as a team. Five UAM players have at least 10 steals this season in Lesure (19), McDuffey (16), and Gilbert, Hardy and King each have 10 apiece.
UAM has also forced 129 turnovers, while surrendering just 93 of their own this season.

As for Arkansas Tech, the Wonder Boys Have been one of the better teams in the country in offensive rebounds, ranking 13th averaging 14.3 offensive boards per game.
Shooting the ball, ATU has registered a 43.3 field goal percentage and a 36.2 three-point field goal percentage.
The Wonder Boys are averaging 85.2 points per game, while allowing their opponents to score 77.2 points per game.
Arkansas Tech has also averaged 42.7 rebounds per contest while surrendering 39.8 rebounds per contest to its opponents.
ATU is led by R.J. Glasper who paces the scoring attack with 17.5 points per contest shooting 46.8 percent from the floor and 45.0 percent from downtown.
Devante Foster has averaged 12.0 points per game and leads the team in rebounds per contest at 8.2.
On defense, Glasper and Foster are also two of the team's top performers with Glasper leading the team in steals (14), and Foster in blocks (4).
