KANSAS CITY, Mo. - University of Arkansas at Monticello junior guard Dajuan Jones was named All-District by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) the publication announced Monday.
Jones was voted to the second team in the South Central District after helping lead UAM to the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2017. He also delivered the Weevils their first Great American Conference Tournament Championship in program history sinking the game-winning layup with 3.5 seconds left to defeat Southern Arkansas 75-74.
The Killeen, Texas native was also named the GAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after averaging 16.7 points, 7.7 assists and 4.0 rebounds while leading the Weevils to the title. Jones garnered GAC recognition at the end of the regular season as well as he was voted first team All-Conference.
"We are proud of Dajuan. He had a great year," UAM head coach Kyle Tolin said. " He did a fantastic job of leading us and deserves this accomplishment. We are excited about his future and the future of Weevil basketball."
During his stellar junior season, Jones averaged 13.7 points per game to push UAM to a 16-5 record on the year and land the Weevils at No. 21 in the final NABC Top 25 poll.
Jones ranked ninth in the country and second in the GAC in total assists with 122 while also landing at 10th nationally and second in the conference in assists per game 5.8 per contest. He rated near the top at the charity stripe as well knocking down a GAC-best 110 free throws which was good for eighth in the country.
He posted a season high 22 points three times including back-to-back games in the semifinals and the final of the GAC Tournament. Jones also tallied double-digit assists four times during his junior campaign including a season-best 13 in a win against conference rival SAU January 25.
