Box Score MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's basketball team came up on the wrong end of a 71-59 decision during Tuesday's make up, Great American Conference match-up with Southern Arkansas University at Steelman Field House.
UAM (9-11) had two players score in double figures. However, the Weevils dealt with turnovers and mental mistakes that cost them the game.
Richard Feagin Jr and Ray Price reached double figures for Arkansas-Monticello
Feagin totaled 21 points and has now scored in double figures in 12 games, five of which he scored over 20 for the Weevils this season.
Price tallied 14 points and has reached 10-plus points in 11 different outings this season. He is also averaging 10.5 points-per-game for the Weevils.
The Weevils were the first to score, as Cole Anderson tossed in two lay-ups to put the Weevils up 4. Though UAM was the first to score, they would quickly lose that lead as the Mulerider offense began to attack. The two teams would switch leads 3 times in the opening 10 minutes of the match. The Muleriders began to take over the game in the closing minutes of the half. The Weevils were able to put up 26 points throughout the entirety, trailing SAU 34-26 as the two teams would head into the locker room.
The second half proved to go Southern Arkansas's way as they went back and forth with UAM for the remainder of the game. UAM would only put up 33 points compared to the Muleriders' 39 points. Through best efforts Arkansas-Monticello was unable to take back the lead SAU had built. UAM finished out the match with a final score of 71-59.
The Weevils fall to 9-11 on the season, with a 5-8 GAC record.
