MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Basketball team will open its 2024-25 campaign on Saturday, Nov. 9. and Sunday, Nov. 10., at the Central Region Challenge in Kansas City, Missouri. The Boll Weevils will take on the Beavers of Bemidji State University at 11:00 a.m. on the 9th and the Dragons of #4 Minnesota State University Moorhead at 12:00 p.m. on the 10th inside the Kansas City Municipal Auditorium.
 
Coming off a devastating 72-70 overtime quarterfinals loss to Southern Nazarene in the 2024 Great American Conference Tournament to conclude their 2023-24 season, the Weevils are hungry for a fresh start and new beginnings as they look towards the upcoming Central Region Challenge.

"I'm very excited about this group," said Head Coach Chad Tapp. "We've got a long way to go and we know there will be a lot of bumps in the road, especially early with a brand new team, but we've got a chance to put a team together that can compete in the GAC. Right now there are a lot of things we need to improve on but I've been happy with the progress we have made to this point. We are going to spend our time worrying about what we do well and our strengths and not so much about what we are missing. I think a real strength for us right now is we have some guys who really want to compete and do the right trying and because of that, I think we will be playing our best in the later months of conference play."

PRESEASON NOTES
Starting off the 2024-25 campaign ranked 10th in the GAC Preseason Conference Poll, the Boll Weevils are ready to prove what they are made of with a newly built roster and staff that includes 12 newly signed players, two returnees, and a new assistant coach. Among the new signers for the green and white are eight junior college transfers, three NCAA Division 1 transfers, and one true freshman.

Also joining the Weevils for the season is recently announced University of North Texas alum Aidan Dawson, who was hired as the new Assistant Men's Basketball Coach under 4th year Head Coach Chad Tapp. The Boll Weevils will also be joined by William Watson who serves as the team's basketball operations coordinator.
