MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men's Basketball team continues GAC action this week against two Oklahoma foes. They will take on the Tigers of East Central University on Thursday, Jan. 9, and the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Saturday, Jan. 11. Both games will be held inside Steelman Fieldhouse with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m. Thursday's game, which was originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m., has been moved up due to forecasted inclement weather.

"We have been better at home but need to get better on the board with a win," said Head Coach Chad Tapp. "We've been better defensively and need to show some improvement offensively. These will be two different teams to prepare for."

LAST MEETING
East Central University - The Weevils fell, 55-53, in their last meeting against the Tigers at home in Monticello. Isaac Jackson led the way for Arkansas-Monticello with 16 points, going 6-16 on total field goals and 4-4 from the line. Jackson also contributed two rebounds and one assist in his 40 minutes of play. Zane Nelson followed close behind, contributing 13 points of his own throughout the game, hitting 5-18 field goals, 1-6 threes, and also 2-3 free throws with nine rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Ty'Reonn King was the final Boll Weevil in double digits on the afternoon, posting 10 points. King was 4-8 from short range and 2-6 from deep. He also gave UAM three rebounds.

Southeastern Oklahoma State University - UAM came up short in the last match-up against the Savage Storm, falling 85-67 at home in Monticello, in February. Isaac Jackson led the way for Arkansas-Monticello with 28 points, going 11-22 on total field goals, 2-3 on threes, and 4-4 from the line. Jackson also contributed seven rebounds, and three assists in his 39 minutes of play. Zane Nelson followed close behind, posting 14 points for the Boll Weevils. Nelson hit 5-11 total field goals, 3-5threes, and 1-2 shots from the line with two steals in his 32 minutes of play.

ALL-TIME SERIES
East Central University - The Boll Weevils hold a slight lead over the Tigers in the record, 15-11, which dates back to January 2012. The first meeting on January 21, 2012, was a 75-69 win in Monticello, which would be the start of their five-game winning streak against ECU, the longest thus far. At home in Steelman, the Weevils are 7-5, while they hold a 7-5 record as well in Ada, Oklahoma. The largest margin for a victory over East Central came by an 89-65 win on December 12, 2017, at home in Steelman Fieldhouse. UAM is averaging 76.81 points per game with 1,997 points scored through 26 games played.

Southeastern Oklahoma State University -  The Savage Storm lead in the record, 11-18, dating back to the first game played on March 17, 1986. The first meeting would be the first of three games played at neutral sites before the formation of the GAC. The Weevils would take the first match-up 67-61 in Kansas City, MO. When the pair met for the first time in the GAC on January 7, 2012, the Weevils would take down SE, 90-78. Through the 29 games played, only two have been decided in overtime, with the January 2017 match taking two overtimes, in each game the Weevils took home the win. The largest margin of victory over the Savage Storm, was on March 3, 2021, by a score of 94-63. Through 29 games the Weevils have put 2,022 points on the board, averaging 69.72 points per game.
